I quit my job in a big accounting firm last December. As months passed, it suddenly dawned upon me that it's all fun and games until you wake up one day and realise you could've achieved so much more when you were younger and it's too late to go back and make amends. So here I am now, exhausting all means to get back to the old corporate life. Similarly, our skin ages and there is no way you can make amends if it ages beyond repair. So, why not take care of it better now with this new gel mask from AXIS-Y?

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.
Betaine is a gentle hydrating ingredient that naturally occurs in skin and the body or could be plant-derived or synthetic, which can help balance our skin's hydration.
Niacinamide is a vitamin B3 derivatives best known for its skin brightening properties. It can reduce pigmentation as it prevents melanin from migrating to the epidermis. This is the key ingredient in the AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum! With this, this product is able to help bring out the glow and give the dull skin a good makeover. Not just that, it also has anti-ageing (I need this!) and anti-inflammatory properties, allowing it help reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion! So just to put it up front, it has been suggested that there might be contraindications if topical Vitamin C such as L-Ascorbic Acid and/or Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid is used with Niacinamide. It is recommended that it should be applied at alternate times, ideally Vitamin C in the PM and Niacinamide in the AM. Otherwise, Niacinamide can affect integrity of the Vitamin C.
Centella Asiatica Extract is known for its skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.
YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Laminaria Japonica Extract can moisturise the skin and is great for detoxing the skin, therefore giving the skin a long lasting glow, healthy and even looking tone. It also works wonder in preventing skin pigmentation and skin discolouration.
Artemisia Princeps is a type of Japanese mugwort (known as yomogi in Japanese). Mugwort is very popular for its antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Its extracts can soothe, heal and nourish the skin, reduce redness and alleviate psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and other irritations. Not just that, being loaded with antioxidants and vitamin E allows it to protect the skin barrier as well.
Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract is used as a medicinal herb, dye and cooking ingredient. The petals, pollen and stems are rich in triterpenoid esters (an anti-inflammatory), antioxidants and carotenoids, which is good for calming down the skin and acne!

Also known as Heart Leaf, Houttuynia Cordata, is a flowering plant indigenous to Southeast Asia. Its extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties, thus, allowing it to soothe the skin, control sebum, refine pores and reduce germs. It is also shown in researches that the polysaccharides it contains, which when present in skincare, can act as humectants and skin hydrators, which can help to maintain the skin’s moisture levels, rendering it a beneficial ingredient in skincare for dermatitis/eczema-prone skin.
Panthenol and Butylene Glycol are both powerful moisturisers. So this mask is perfect for those who have dry skin!
Then, we have Allantoin, an ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.
Beta-Glucan is a soluble fibre found in the cell walls of plants such as oat kernels and mushrooms. In many skincare products, Beta-Glucan is usually extracted from oat as it has a long history of safe use and is able to give fast, temporary relief of itching and pain associated with minor skin irritations. It has also been used frequently in skincare products to provide skin-smoothening effect and help wound healing.
It comes with a protective lid and a spatula.
YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
As we age, collagens in our skin are being generated more slowly than they are being broken down. This is why most of our skin gets drier and we tend to get more wrinkles and fine lines as we grow old. With Hyaluronic Acid, it can help stimulate collagen synthesis and is wonderful at retaining our skin moisture, which makes it a magical anti-aging ingredient because youthful-looking skin is one that is properly moisturised, supple and with minimal wrinkles and fine lines! It is also known for its ability to promote wound healing, as well as alleviate other irritations like eczema.
Madecassoside is one of the main bioactive compounds in the plant extract Centella Asiatica. It is an antioxidant by itself but one study showed that even a small amount of it (0.1%), when used with vitamin C, has great antioxidant benefit when applied to skin. It is also non-sensitising and can help revitalise our skin’s surface.
NAH, THE BAD ONES
For sensitive skin beauty lovers, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil and Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil may potentially irritate your skin if it is at a concentration too high. However, seeing that its position in the ingredient list above is quite low, indicating that its concentration here is not too high, so I don't think it should be causing you to have any concern. I would still recommend patch testing (I always do) before applying it to your whole face.
2% OF NIACINAMIDE
This mask is loaded with 2% of Niacinamide. Because of that, it comes with the ability to lighten pigmentations and dark spots, as well as smoothen and brighten uneven skin tone. It can also repair weakened skin barrier and I have personally seen this in action! My skin was dry and irritated after wearing a mask for the entire day. After putting on the mask, the irritation calmed down substantially almost immediately.

IT IS SO COOLING
Since it contains mugwort, it carries the scent of a mugwort mask but that's not the end to it. It also has a little tea leaf smell which make me feel like I am sipping on tea every time I put this New Skin Resolution Gel Mask on. Similar to its tub, the mask is light green in colour but is transparent at the same time. Like its name, this mask has a gel texture and it stays put after applying on the skin. It also has a cooling effect which I absolutely love!
HOW TO USE
As suggested by AXIS-Y, you can use it 2-3 times a week as needed. For me, I'd use it when my skin is feeling extra dry. After washing my skin, I will wipe it dry and apply the mask on my face with a brush. AXIS-Y recommends putting it on for 10-15 minutes, so personally I leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off. The mask feels amazing on the skin during application and the smell does not linger long after application (based on personal experience).
When applied on the skin.
REST AND WAIT
Despite being a gel mask, the mask does not drip or budge at all so I'd go take a short nap, watch some YouTube videos or TV drama while I wait for the 15 minutes to pass. Thereafter, I will wash it off with lukewarm water as recommended by AXIS-Y. It is very easy to wash off the mask so kudos to that. You can either use a cloth/sponge (highly recommend those with smooth-surfaced), or just wash it off with bare hands
NEED MORE MOISTURE?
I am so in love with this newly launched gel mask by AXIS-Y. It came right at the time when I need it AS my skin is so easily irritated and dry (I'm in my late 20s now and my skin is ageing quickly!). So if you're looking to cool your skin down after a long day, or are simply looking for a mask that can help restore the dry and tired skin, you need to get this mask!
