GROWING A GARDEN
It’s been almost three weeks now since I got this By Wishtrend TECA 1% Barrier Cream. This is By Wishtrend’s latest product and I seriously cannot be any more excited, especially since it targets acne prone skin! If you have been reading my latest few posts (read reviews on Belif and Freeman) and comparing them to my older posts (read reviews on FROMNATURE and Klairs), you may have noticed that my skin is currently a pimple garden growing in progress. 😢
By Wishtrend TECA 1% Barrier Cream (USD27.50 for 30ML)
Because of my worsening skin condition, I did not even hesitate when Hae Na from Wishtrend asked me if I want to review this newest product of By Wishtrend. Why? Read on!
INGREDIENT LIST
(Skincarisma)
Water, Dipropylene Glycol, *Glyceryl Stearate SE, *Cetearyl Alcohol, *Dimethicone, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethyl Hexanediol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA
Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.
I love it when an ingredient list is as short as this. It is easy to digest and I don't have to be afraid that I might have overlooked a certain ingredient that may irritate my skin.
The Good Ones
Good news. All the ingredients on this list are low risk ingredients. Meaning, this product is totally safe to use according to Environmental Working Group (EWG). This is honestly my first time seeing a skincare product having a full blue bar that says 100% LOL (you'll know what I'm saying by clicking on the "Skincarisma" above)!
I go crazy every time I spot a product that contains Centella Asiatica Extract (the Asiaticoside, Asiactic Acid and Madecassic Acid in the list above). I have this uncontrollable urge to buy and own them all and that was the main reason I fell for this product the moment I was told about it. Centella Asiatica Extract has the ability to enhance collagen 1 synthesis and hence is able to improve our skin density and help repair our damaged skin more quickly. When our skin is able to regenerate and repair more quickly, it becomes easier for us to maintain a youthful look (it's every girl's dream!) and get rid of those post-acne scars much more rapidly. Not just that, it can also help to calm skin damage caused by UVA & UVB rays by strengthening our skin barrier.
It comes in a tube with a screwing lid.
The Good Ones (cont'd)
Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt. With Centella Asiatica Extract, this officially makes the By Wishtrend TECA 1% Barrier Cream a product of its words (modified from "a man of his words" HAHA). It is truly a barrier cream from just looking at the ingredients and let's see how well it works!
Note: this cream is free from paraben, sulphate and alcohol. 😍
A very hygienic design I'd say! Can you see that I've used up quite a lot?
The Bad Ones

The Bad Ones
I was so reluctant to do this part because I'm madly in love with this product. But what needs to be done must be done and I don't want to be unfair to other products I've reviewed. So, from the list there are three ingredients, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetearyl Alcohol and Dimethicone, which are potentially comedogenic, i.e. can possibly block pores can cause acne. Those of you who identify yourself as oily skin peep, make sure that you do a patch test because out of those three ingredients, Glyceryl Stearate SE is specially flagged up by Skincarisma as its comedogenic rating is higher than the other two.
The back of the box.
WHO ARE THEY MAKING THIS FOR?
If you subscribed to Wishtrend TV, then you know most of the products they sell focus on easily irritated skin and acne prone skin. This is surely one of them. This TECA 1% Barrier Cream was made to target those of us with problematic skin, dry & flaky skin and those who want hydration with anti-ageing effects. Oh ya, in case you have been wondering, TECA stands for Titrated Extract of Centella Asiatica. According to a research article (click to read more) on NCBI, TECA has "a wide range of preventive and therapeutic effects". The two main benefits it provides are induction of collagen production (as mentioned above) and promotion of wound healing.

NOW, IT'S TIME FOR A TESTIMONIAL
I can go on and on talking about how good this is and you'd still not believe me because there is no picture proofs. In the weeks before I started using this TECA cream, I've been getting remarks of how my skin looks so much worse than it was. People asked if I was too stressed (I'm an auditor with lots of deadlines HAHA) or had I simply mixed and used too many new products which cause all the volcanoes to suddenly erupt all over. I would try to keep a straight face and explain to them casually how PCOS (feel free to google if you want to know) has caused my issue but deep down, I cannot get over the fact that my skin no longer looks as smooth as it once was.
WHO WOULD IT HELP?
I was dying for a solution and By Wishtrend came to my aid. And after two weeks of using it, someone who's always been very straightforward and honest when dealing with me told me my skin has improved tremendously. That's just after two weeks! And I seriously do not need any before-after comparison picture to convince myself that this TECA 1% Barrier Cream does wonder. The change is obvious. After trying out so many products that do not work well, I was already at the verge of giving up so this one literally feels like a life saver . OMG I feel like I'm preaching LOL! Well, I don't like to exaggerate. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. And this one does.
Note: I stopped using all AHA, BHA and acne products I was previously trying to use to save my skin two weeks before I started using this.
A picture can speak a thousand words. Look at how much my skin has improved!
p.s. For the picture on the right, I only had eye makeup on as I was testing out some falsies and I would've covered up those acne marks on my chin (which have lightened so soooo much) if I want to put on any concealer at all and... please excuse the pimple patch LOL!
I AM ADDICTED
I love how it glides on smoothly (it doesn't pull my skin!) without leaving my skin super sticky. I normally squeeze out a little on my index finger, and spread it on the problematic areas (those you see above). In the morning I usually use it right before my priming moisturiser from Half Moon Eyes and COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream. Then at night, I would usually use it right after my Belif Oil Control Moisturiser Fresh (it's a staple now!) and before I layer on the Vitamin C21.5 Serum (review on its way!). Since it works as a barrier cream, I tend to use a little more in the morning to help filter out the dirt that comes along with living in the city!
I CANNOT DESCRIBE
It goes on transparent and it has almost no smell. It is not until I shove my hand into my face before I can finally detect a very faint ginseng-like smell (note: there is NO ginseng in this barrier cream). LOL! I don't know where that came from but I am totally okay with the smell since I could barely smell it while it was on my face. Plus, I would suggest using it as a spot treatment so I don't think any of you would be bothered by the smell either.
Look at the texture! I was trying to draw a love but...
LOOKS LIKE VASELINE
The cream doesn't look like any cream I've used before. It reminds me of Vaseline haha! It feels soft and gentle on my skin and according to Wishtrend, this is due to the unique melting technology of the manufacturer. That's so cool! I also like how it dries off on my skin without leaving any trace of its application. I can easily layer this underneath my makeup and use it as a primer to keep my skin separated from the makeup I'm going to use.
Spreading it out, can you see how watery it looks on my hand?

GET IT AND YOU SHALL NEVER REGRET IT
I'm sold on this one. I couldn't be more surprised when I realised my skin has recovered so so much! I have not been getting any new acnes on the same spots I've applied this to so far. I was getting upset with my worsening skin condition and I don't like it when people commented how my skin has looked so much worse than they last saw me. But it is better now because of this TECA 1% Barrier Cream! I am definitely going to repurchase this once I run out. And there I was, six months ago, thinking that no acne cream actually works LOL.

This TECA cream sounds amazing! I don't have acne prone skin but I really want to try it for it's anti-ageing properties. And wow, you're an auditor, you must really be a busy bee xx

Hello,

Sarah, http://www.sarahmodeee.fr
Hi i just want to confirm this works for a spot on treatment and maintenance as well for acne prone skin right? But you mentioned as well that theres an ingredients that can clogged pores if you are oily skin.. Am I right? Sorry just want to confirm.. Before i purchase this.. I have an oily skin with same problem as yours.. Thanks..
ReplyDeleteBtw i am also reading yout 21.5 serum review wheb i clicked this link..
Hello Grace! Thank you so much for stopping by!
DeleteYes you're right! It can work as a spot on treatment and is good for maintaining the skin's condition. This is my HG spot on treatment because it just calms the skin and almost always helps alleviate my pimple overnight. And so far I haven't faced any clogged pore issues from this cream despite the ingredient even though I tend to apply it on the oiliest area on my skin. Do give it a try and let me know how it works out for you!
