|REVIEW| 3. Half Moon Eyes Milky Moisture Cream: How to Get CHOK CHOK Skin

Half Moon Eyes Milky Moisture Cream review

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMON, MAKE LEMONADE
Yay! I'm back for my last review on a HME product. My workload has gone crazy lately. But I am doing more than fine. I think. Because I will look at my senior and comfort myself that what I'm going through isn't hell YET. HAHAHAHA. By the way, in case you didn't see my last post on the HME Pink Fruity Wash Off Mask, just want to say that I'm planning to have a new series talking about work which I will share here. If you ever wonder how it's like to work in one of the big four audit firms, be sure to stay tuned!

A REMINDER
So I'm not going to spend too much time repeating the same old thing I wrote in my last two posts. Basically I'm here to continue my guide on how to get chok chok skin and a review on the Half Moon Eyes Milky Moisture Cream. Without further ado, let's jump straight into the review on the last item I have from HME!

Now that we have the toner on our face and the mask done, it's time to seal in the moisture.

HALF MOON EYES MILKY MOISTURE CREAM
Half Moon Eyes Milky Moisture Cream review
Half Moon Eyes Milky Moisture Cream (RM67.00 for 100g)

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
I've been afraid of trying product whose name ends with the word 'cream' or 'oil' because my skin sometimes reacts adversely towards those products. I have no interest of seeing new patches of redness on my face in the morning after I've gone to sleep wearing such products. Neither do I like seeing any at the end of the day. So I normally steer clear of them until Tammy, the founder of The Butterfly Project introduced me to the Milky Jelly Moisture Cream from Half Moon Eyes.

Introduction
It is the only moisturiser HME currently carries. It comes in a translucent tube (yes!) and as it is a white cream, it gives the tube a white colour. I'm loving what HME does for the packaging of its products soooo sooo much. They are hygienic and the story doesn't end there. For Half Moon Eyes Milky Jelly Toning Essence, they even put a ruler on the side of the bottle to let us gauge how much product we've used up and that's how I tell I've used up 30ml in three weeks haha. Whereas for Half Moon Eyes Pink Fruity Wash Off Mask, they pack every single one of them in a capsule. That saves me from worrying about how much I should use each time so that I won't have insufficient product during my last application (who feels me?).

Remember to remove the thin foil sealing the tube opening before use!

Introduction (contd.)
This moisture cream is very lightweight and thin in consistency. Honestly, it's so lightweight I think it can fit well into the category of gel-cream without any issue. It has a bit of a silky finish to it when I rub it on my hand to test. I have a good feeling that it will not end up being sticky nor oily when applied on my face! Let's see how it turns out later. Besides, it has a very faint smell to it. A smell that is only detectable when I put my nose on my hand (literally LOL) to smell it. It's a pleasant smell, resembling a very typical creamy smell (if that makes any sense) but not exactly the same.

Note: Bolded are the star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index'. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisks (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.

Let's talk about a few of the notable ingredients before we move on to "How to Use". Number one on the bolded item list, we see fig.

Fig
As introduced in the previous post, figs, i.e. Ficus Carica Fruit are rich in antioxidants and has anti-collagenase effect thus making it a common ingredient in anti-aging products. Some studies of fig even claims that it is able to decrease skin melanin, trans-epidermal water loss, and skin sebum significantly, thus able to hydrate our skin. This plays an important role in the HME moisturiser to help hydrate our skin and giving us the chok chok effect we're aiming for.

Morus Alba Fruit Extract
This may sound more familiar in our ear as mulberry leaf extract. It has the ability to brighten up our skin tone and give it a healthier glow.

Follow me:
BHA
If you've ever read any COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid review, or use one yourself, you should not be unfamiliar with the term Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water. Because that's the main ingredient in that Liquid. Don't tell me you didn't know, okay? HAHAHA you SHOULD always read the ingredient list and understand what they will do to your skin before putting it on your skin! Believe me, it will reduce the number regretful purchases and unwanted + unexpected skin reaction. BHA has the ability to go deep under our skin and gently exfoliate it, giving us cleaner pores and as a result, fewer unexpected breakouts.

Patch testing on the back of my hand before I started using it.

Ingredient List (contd.)

Sodium Hyaluronate
As sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, it has a much lower molecular size compared to hyaluronic acid. That's why it's frequently used in moisturising product as it has the ability to penetrate skin when applied topically. Since it can hold more than 1000 times its weight in water, when applied on skin, it can plump up dry or damaged skin, restoring suppleness especially if you have flaky skin. Both this, glycerin and butylene glycol are great for our dry skin beauty lovers and those who live under a very cold and windy weather!

Collagen Extract
We see the word collagen almost every day, be it on TV or on the internet. It is the most advertised ingredient (based on personal opinion haha) of anti-ageing products so none of us should be unfamiliar with it. With it in this Moisture Cream, it can restore lost proteins and help slow down wrinkle formation.

Smoothening it on my hand.

How to Use
Simple. Just squeeze out an adequate amount and lightly pat into your skin. For the size of my face, I normally use a pea-size only. That's because I'm using it in the morning with Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence underneath and COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream on top. A pea-size amount is sufficient to keep my skin moisturised without being too thick on my skin.

I always dot them on my face first before I start patting.

My Opinion
For my moisturiser, the two most important things it has to do are moisturise my skin and smoothen my skin texture. And the one thing it has to not do, is cause breakouts. This HME Milky Moisture Cream fulfils them all. I've not seen a single patch of dryness nor have I seen a single patch of redness ever since I started using this cream. This is extremely important because HME actually claims that this Moisture Cream can protect exhausted skin and make our skin barriers healthier. It has to at least does what it claims and I believe it manages to. My skin does look more glowy and moisturised

And here's the complete chok chok look (of my hand)!

My Opinion (contd.)
I love how it also smoothens my skin by acting as a primer. YES PRIMER. Remember I said that it has a silky finish? It reminds me so much of Benefits' POREfessional Primer!  The way it fills up my pores and gives a smooth canvas for me to put on my makeup is almost comparable (probably 75%?) to that of Benefits. And that means good news! I can save so much time by using a 2-in-1 (moisturiser + primer) in the morning and that means more sleeping time (even if it's just two minutes HAHA).

Recommend?
I mean, why not?! Primer + moisturiser that doesn't cause breakout? I'm in! What's more it only costs a fraction of what the Benefits one does!
