BACK WITH A NEW PURPOSE
Almost a year of inactivity, wow, I'm lazy haha. Anyway, I am planning to adjust my focus and purpose a little. Instead of reviewing products that I've only used for a short period of time (which honestly isn't enough to really tell if it is good unless it's a one-time use product, e.g. sheet mask, pimple patch, you get the point), I want to try to extend the testing period. So the target I set for myself now, is to at least use up half of the product before I do any review. 👌😀?
Mizon AHA & BHA Daily Clean Toner (150ml for RM54)
INGREDIENT LIST
Water, Glycerin, Sodium Lactate, *Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Salicylic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance.
Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne or irritate skin than those without.

That's how much I have left after three months of continued use. I usually only use this in the morning.

Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.
Butylene Glycol is a powerful moisturiser. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!
Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid are both anti-ageing ingredients. They are also known as Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). I believe you should find the word 'AHA' familiar if you are trying to get into skin care! AHA can act as a pH buffer which helps adjust our skin's acidity. Not just that, it also promotes skin peeling (exfoliation) and re-growth which is why AHA is frequently used in anti-aging products.
Yarrow Extract, also known as Achillea Millefolium Extract, is commonly used in bath, body and hand, hair, and skin cleansing products, as well as deodorants. It is usually added to help reduce the appearance of dry or damaged skin as it can reduce flaking and restoring suppleness. I personally love yarrow tea for its aroma and especially love to mix it with lavender tea leaf to help me relax hehe!
Salicylic Acid is a type of BHA. It is a natural exfoliant and is used in many acne treatments as it can help skin shed dead cells and clear pores. It can reduce the inflammation and help your skin recover faster. Not just that, it can also stimulate new cell formation and reduce the appearance of marks (goodbye acne marks!).
It comes with a screwing cap and the hole is just nice to let the toner pour out quickly.
NAH, THE BAD ONES
I have always been allergic to products with alcohol. I can't take a reasonable amount of alcohol without getting bumps all over my skin, including my face. Hence I have always avoided any product with alcohol, I have no idea how this Mizon toner slips into my routine without me noticing haha, guess I'm happy it did! Alcohol is also known to dry out quickly. That said, when on skin, it evaporates quickly, bringing away moisture with it. Dry/sensitive skin peeps should try to avoid products with alcohol.
Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Salicylic are anyhow still acids and may not be suitable for sensitive skin people. Just be sure of your skin condition before using the toner and if you have decided to take on the challenge, always top it up with a moisturiser. Also, avoid using it with other skin-drying product(s) to prevent further drying out your skin!
I was a bit surprised to learn that this contains paraben (you can read this article about paraben if you're wondering why it has been highlighted here) but I'm okay with it since the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) concluded that parabens at the low levels found in personal care products are not a concern. I've been relying on CIR for all of my cosmetic product reviews and I find them quite reliable, so I feel okay to let this one go.
p.s. Concentration of an ingredient is normally indicated by its position in the ingredient list. More lowly positioned equals to more lowly concentrated.

HOW TO USE
Like any toner, before using this Mizon AHA & BHA toner, wash your face clean. After you're done removing all trace of makeup/dirt, pour a 1cm diameter (or however much you deem sufficient) and lightly wipe it onto the skin. To enhance absorption and sometimes to speed up the process, I pat a little until no visible water droplet can be seen on my skin.

GETTING THE SENSES INVOLVED
The toner smells amazing, but that's because I am a citrus lover haha. Its citrus scent is refreshing especially on a lazy morning when I have to go to work. 😢 HAHA! It has a watery consistency and is very lightweight. Just the right feel for a toner! Don't ask me how I know but it tastes a little sour/salty, which makes sense since it contains a lot of acids (it has a pH of 4.3).

SKIN, DRINK IT!
It never stings (unless I "accidentally" 🌚 squeezed a pimple) and it gets absorbed fast without leaving my skin sticky 😍. For me this is of utmost importance because I don't like layering another product until my skin feels comfortable and this toner dries down just quickly enough. Perfect for anyone who is in a hurry but still wants the few-steps skincare routine done right, especially in the morning haha.
p.s. Don't let it get into your eyes though, it'll sting!

HOW DID IT DO
Despite containing alcohol, this Mizon Daily Clean Toner has surprisingly NEVER given me any problem. I just love that it dries down quickly enough for me to layer my next product. Perfect for those who need to get to work early but still snooze until the very last minute possible (me lol)! It also mildly exfoliate my skin and adjust my skin pH, preparing it for the serum that I am about to layer my skin with.

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Oh yes! Despite containing alcohol, it never caused my face to react like some toner did. It stung a little when my face has a wound but otherwise, it is my go-to toner. I honestly think it cleans up my pores, keeps my skin moisturised and helps maintain the texture of my skin. If you ask me, I am definitely going to repurchase once this one runs out! Once again, if you have sensitive skin, you might want to give it a test run before committing to a full-size.
