swissvita energy enhancer cream review

DON'T SAY IT TOO QUICKLY
Remember those times where you tell yourself you will never use a certain product again? I once told myself I will not touch any tinted products because they feel like makeup and they make my skin uncomfortable. Guess what? I am here now, getting all hyped up by my second tube of Swissvita's Energy Enhancer Cream and having the third tube ready to take over the world in my stash. So yeah, be prepared to see me rave this little angel!

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
It contains Titanium Dioxide. That makes this a physical sunscreen as it has the ability to deflect and scatter the skin-damaging UV rays to keep our skin protected.

Zinc Oxide has the ability to heal epidermal wounds, burns, rashes, skin oiliness, infections and acne. Unlike many chemical sunscreens, it protects against UVA and UVB light rays and is often used as a natural, non-toxic sunscreen to prevent burns, signs of photo-ageing and irritation.

Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

Butylene Glycol, Panthenol and Hydrolysed Hyaluronic Acid are all powerful moisturisers. That's why despite the matte finish that this Energy Enhancer Cream gives, my skin never felt dry!

Citric Acid is an anti-ageing ingredient. It is a kind of AHA which can also act as a pH buffer i.e. to help adjust our skin's acidity. Not just that, it also promotes skin peeling (exfoliation) and re-growth which is why it is frequently used in anti-aging products.

Niacinamide is a vitamin B3 derivatives best known for its skin brightening properties. It can reduce pigmentation as it prevents melanin from migrating to the epidermis. I've seen it featured in many of Klairs products. With this, this product is able to help bring out the glow and give the dull skin a good makeover.  Not just that, it is also good as an anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing ingredient! What's best about it is that it helps stabilise vitamin C and shows enhanced effects when used with vitamin C.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, like Niacinamide, can brighten up skin tone. Its anti-oxidant properties make it a great anti-ageing ingredient. The reason is because it is a derivative of Vitamin C and is considered to be a very stable precursor of Vitamin C. With both this, Ascorbic Acid and Citric Acid, in the list, Swissvita definitely knows what is best for its acne plagued beauty lovers!

Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.

All the deets you need at the back of the box. It should be finished 6 months after opening.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
If you have oily skin, Stearic Acid can potentially clog pores as it has a comedogenic rating of 3.

Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do skip this!

PATCH TEST
I strongly encourage you to patch test before applying it all over your face. Swab a small amount of the product on your wrist or behind your ear and wait around 1 day to see how your skin reacts. If your skin experiences any burning effect or has any irritation that is not supposed to accompany the product, wash it off immediately and seek medical attention if the irritation doesn’t go away after washing.

HOW TO USE
This is my sunblock cum foundation. I will put on all my morning skincare products, followed by this Energy Enhancer Cream by Swissvita in a thin layer. Back then, I would put a huge thick dot each on my cheeks, forehead and chin then use a wet sponge to dab it in. That gave a higher coverage yet my skin wouldn't feel suffocated. But since I no longer need that kind of coverage, to reduce the speed of me using up the cream 😅, I would put a smaller dot and use my fingers to just dab it in.

See how my skin has brightened up and my pores have disappeared after application?

WHAT IS IT LIKE
The smell of this Swissvita EE Cream is very very faint. I almost couldn't detect anything when I'm putting it on. It is tinted, hence will give a minimal coverage over light scars. Also, I think it is amazing at covering 'em pores, especially if I do my hydrating and moisturising steps properly. It feels matte on the skin but at the same time, not drying at all. Nowadays I can even skip putting on translucent powder on my T-zone whenever I use this Energy Enhancer Cream!

Another up-close to let you see the difference this Swissvita EE Cream makes.

WHY I LOVE IT
It never broke me out once or gave me any trouble. I guess that makes sense since it is a skin-protecting skincare product with a teeny weeny bit of makeup ability. Most importantly, it has an SPF of 50 and PA+++, well above the minimum requirements I think every good sunblock should have. It also does not leave any white cast and is not greasy nor sticky. It is so comfortable on the skin that I almost can't feel it there. I mean, what's more is there to ask for?

Psst.. Hate sunblocks? Don't hate them, you just need to choose the right one. Don't know how to? Learn how to choose a good sunblock here!

TIPS TO SAVE COST ON HERMO
Wait for Hermo's birthday promotion in June. In the 4 months leading up to June, mark attendance at Hermo every day (just a simple click on the website/mobile app in 2 seconds and you're done, see how to mark attendance here). You just need to remember to check in every day (set a reminder maybe?) because if you miss a day, it will be reset to zero. After 10 attendances, Hermo will award you with 200 credits. Collect at least 2,400 credits, so you need to do this for 4 months.

During Hermo's birthday promotion, exchange the credits you collected with the vouchers Hermo is giving out. I chose the highest amount at RM20. When the price of the Swissvita Energy Enhancer Cream was slashed to RM74, I went in and snatched it without thinking further. With the RM20 voucher, I paid only RM54 and got another 2% saving of around RM1 from Shopback. So I want to count to the last cent, I paid only RM53 (saved RM96) haha.

If you think the RM20 voucher takes too much effort, just wait for Hermo birthday promotion in June will do 😜. You will be saving more than half of the price anyway!
