COULD IT BE?
When I saw the name of this product, I immediately thought of it as a replacement for my almost-gone Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. I don't know where that idea came from but I am eager to find out how good my instincts are. Also, it stated on its packaging that it complements the use of Vitamin C by enhancing its effect. This is the part I am most excited about because, who doesn't love a product that speeds up the recovery of an acne scar?

Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.
The Good Ones
Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.

Niacinamide is a vitamin B3 derivatives best known for its skin brightening properties. It can reduce pigmentation as it prevents melanin from migrating to the epidermis. I've seen it featured in both Klairs Mid Day Blue Sun Lotion and Klairs Mochi BB Cushion Pact. With this, this vitamin E mask is able to help bring out the glow and give the dull skin a good makeover. Not just that, it is also good as an anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing ingredient (read this article if you want to know more)! What's best about it is that it helps stabilise vitamin C and shows enhanced effects when used with vitamin C.

Both Ceramide and Adenosine are also great anti-wrinkle ingredients, especially Adenosine. It is capable of boosting the levels of proteins such as Collagen and Elastin, thereby being able to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and promote wound healing. Oh boy, I need this for my undereye! According to Wishtrend, adenosine can also effectively improves acne caused by oily skin!

This extract has the ability to enhance collagen synthesis and this helps to improve skin density and repair damaged skin more quickly. When our skin is able to regenerate and repair more quickly, it becomes much easier to maintain a youthful look and help get rid of post-acne scars much more rapidly. Moreover, it can also help calm skin damage caused by UVA & UVB rays as it fortifies our skin barrier. With that said, I'm excited to see how it can help with my acne scars!

The Bad Ones
Algin is basically brown algae. It is a plant extract with antioxidant effect and is used to thicken the consistency of the mask. Skincarisma says it is bad for sensitive and oily skin types but does not explain why. From what I read around on the internet and the ratings given by EWG as well as CIR, I personally think it should not be an issue unless you know that you are allergic to it.

The three oils that I underlined above are essential oils. They contribute to the good lemony smell of this vitamin E mask but can potentially irritate sensitive skin. Hence, as always, do a patch test if you're worried some of the ingredients may irritate your skin. And remember this: what works for others may not always work for you and vice versa.
Took a large amount of it using the spatula given. You don't need that much for your face.
LUXURIOUS LOOK
I like how sturdy the mask tub feels in my hand. It is made of plastic but is not flimsy at all. The one thing that makes the packaging slightly less perfect is the cap. It gets dirty very easily. Otherwise, everything is good! Once opened up, there is a protectant lid. It helps keep the product away from the cap as the product moves around quite easily (it is not exactly watery) whenever you change the position of the tub.Follow me:
LIKE I'VE NEVER TOUCHED IT
On the first night I used this, I used the little spatula to scoop up quite some mask and spread it across my face. When I opened it up to use the next day, I was shocked to find that the product had filled up the hole I made and looked as if I've never touched it before. With my CLEAN finger (had to emphasise that HAHA), I gently pressed into the mask and found that I could barely push in. It almost felt like I was trying to press into a jelly.
MEMORY FOAM ALIKE
After some digging around the internet, I realised that this mask is in fact also known as a "shape memory cream". It means the mask is able to remember its original shape and reshape itself to the same shape as it was. How cool is that? This texture enables the product to tightly hug around the skin and, in my opinion, helps maximise absorption.
HOW AND WHEN TO USE IT
Using this mask on its own may not give our skin its best effect. So I am combining it with my By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum. The two vitamins can enhance the effectiveness of each other by forming an anti-oxidant network. This network protects the skin from active oxidants and helps slow down the ageing process. In addition, vitamin E can prevent vitamin C from being oxidised before our skin is able to absorb it, thus intensifying the skin-improving effects of vitamin C. I always apply it right after vitamin C or you can **mix them together before applying it to the skin. As I only use vitamin C at night, the same goes for this.
**Note: Depending on your skin type and desired texture of the mask, you can adjust the mixing ratio accordingly to fit your needs. 🤓
IT ALSO MOISTURISES
Klairs claims that this Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask can moisturise the skin. The pudding-like texture transforms into a rich essence when in contact with the skin. As I sometimes sleep in air-conditioned room, I personally do not think it is moisturising enough for my skin. On those nights, I would always put on another layer of gel moisturiser to keep my skin from drying out. However, on nights when the air-conditioners are off, I will stop my night routine at this vitamin E mask.
SHOULD YOU BUY?
To be really honest, if you are very into vitamin C serum and want the maximum benefits from it, by all means grab this. So far the only most prominent effect that I've seen is how it calms down the redness on my skin. On the part of fading acne scars, the effect is still not very visible. I suspect it needs a longer time than 2 weeks before it can show any effect on my not-so-reactive skin. I will come back here for an update so stay tuned!
