BACK WITH A MASK
OMG. A gold mask! I have never tried a gold mask up till now. At one point, I almost bought the Piolang Peel-off Gold Mask but luckily I didn't, because I realised not long ago that I'm allergic to alcohol, which is a common ingredient in all peel off masks. Now, thank goodness ID.AZ came up with this gold hydrogel mask, which has just become one of my favourite sheet masks.

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.
The Good Ones
When it comes to choosing a sheet mask, the first two things I usually look at is the price and the quality. It is not something that I can reuse so I want to make sure it is worth what I pay for. This is a RM14.80 premium mask and I must say, the quality is unbeatable. Just look at the ingredient list. There are 1ppm of Gold in it, Honey, Royal Jelly Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract and Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract. Let's go through them one by one.
Gold
A very well known ingredient used by Japanese, Romans, and Egyptians since ancient times. It can help reduce wrinkles, fine lines and even spots by stimulating our skin cells and slow down collagen depletion. It can also brighten up our skin and give it a radiant look, which is key to looking more youthful. I read somewhere that it can even reduce the breakdown of elastin and help our skin maintain its elasticity!

The Good Ones (Cont'd)
Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Allantoin
I've talked about these four ingredients so many times so I'm not gonna go into details again. They are all powerfully moisturising for the skin and can help replenish the water that we lost from the surface of our skin.
Learn about them in my previous reviews:
Royal Jelly & Honey
I love both Royal Jelly and Honey masks. I always can't resist the urge to grab one or two whenever I see them in store. They are very moisturising to the skin and can help reduce inflammation. My skin always look very refreshed and hydrated after I've used a Royal Jelly or Honey mask.
Adenosine & Ceramide
I had done a detailed explanation for Adenosine here in this review for the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask. Both of these are great anti-ageing ingredients.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract
We've seen this in the Innisfree Bija Trouble Lotion, Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask and I'm From Ginseng Serum but I've never really discussed it. It can soothe the skin and protect the skin from free radicals. It is not just a good anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, but also an inhibitor for collagenase, a collagen-reducing enzyme that breaks down collagen. By applying it topically, it can help maintain the level of collagen, i.e. the elasticity of the skin.
Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract
Now this, I've only seen it once before in the I'm From Ginseng Serum. We all know Licorice as candies but what is Licorice doing in a skincare product? Apparently, its root is good for fighting acne, and can brighten up our skin and calm sensitive skin. Licorice Root Extract has the ability to help diminish the appearance of under-eye dark circles, discolouration and even age spots. It is also a powerful antioxidant which can help protect the skin from environmental stressors and help balance oil, making this mask great for those of us with oily skin.
Titanium Dioxide
I don't know how many times I've spoken about this ingredient. Refer to this Belif Tinted Moisturiser / Sunscreen review to learn about it!
The Bad Ones
Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract and Potassium Chloride can potentially block pores and cause acne. Since patch test is not really practical, you can only try this out based on your past experience with such ingredients. Gold has also been highlighted as a higher risk ingredient in terms of safety. But so far, my acne prone skin is doing okay with the mask after using it twice.
Both Phenoxyethanol and Fragrance are known to be higher risk ingredients which may possibly irritate the skin. They are both in there to give the mask a better smell. In fact, I thought the mask smells okay, just like the other hydrogel masks I've used (I think all hydrogel masks have a similar smell, hmm). It has a faint but pleasant smell thanks to these two ingredients!
TEAR EVERYTHING APART
When I opened up the mask and tried to take it out, I was so worried that I was going to tear it. The mask got stuck to the side of the package and was quite hard to pull out. So when I opened a second one to use, I cut up the side of the packaging. The hydrogel mask comes in two pieces. One for the upper facial area and one for the lower. The upper piece is sandwiched by two layers of plastic while the lower piece has only one side covered by a plastic.
HOW TO USE
Before application, make sure to clean your face and put on a toner. This helps to ensure that you skin soaks up the most of the mask serum and takes in as much the nutritions as it can possibly provide. Then I will put on the upper piece first, followed by the lower, carefully positioning it around my face to cover most area and prevent tearing it. I would then set a timer of 20 minutes (suggested time is 10 to 20 minutes) and lie down on the sofa / bed as I don't want the mask to drag on my skin.
Putting on the upper piece first. I'm ready to go undercover!
Had both pieces of the gold hydrogel mask on. Feel the luxurious vibe~
AT THE 20TH MINUTE
When it comes to removing the mask, I always start with the lower piece first. My skin never feels sticky nor irritated with this mask. The one great thing I love about a hydrogel mask is how it helps push in the mask serum by sticking closely to the skin. As a mask modelled after a luxurious nutrition care, this surely does deliver its promise because my skin would look much more hydrated and glowy whenever I use it.
Removing the lower piece.
After removing the lower piece. My skin looks like it just had a drink of water.
Can you see the tiny gold specks on it?
You can see how important hydration is and how much a difference it can make to the skin.

WHO SHOULD BUY IT
Anyone, everyone, especially those of you who have dry / rough / dull skin. If you are going to a special event the next day but do not have a big budget or time for a luxurious facial spa, this can totally be the answer to your agony. I seriously love how my skin looks after using this deeply nourishing gold mask, way healthier and much smoother.
