FOR THE FIRST TIME
I'm finally going to review a peel-off mask. Not sure if I mentioned here before, but my skin doesn't really like products that have high level of alcohol. It will become hot and flushed and it's just not something I'd like to do to my skin. Usually a peel-off mask would come with a high concentration of alcohol because it needs to dry off in 15 minutes so that you can peel it off later. Which is why I've never really tried to review one here because I cannot take a picture without looking all red and ugly.
So what makes me give an exception to this Egg Shell Revital & Lifting Veil from Dr. Douxi today? We shall find out soon. In the meantime, let's look at the ingredient list before we move on to that!
DECODING INGREDIENT LIST

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne/irritate skin than those without.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is an oil-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. Hence it can penetrate skin faster than any other form of Vitamin C. It is used in skincare products (the most famous one has to be The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F) to fight free radicals that cause premature ageing, boost collagen production, firm the skin, increase UV photo-protection hence reducing sun damage and lighten dark spots and discolourations.
Alpha-Bisabolol is able to enhance product penetration and calm inflammation. Not just that, it can also deeply moisturise the skin as it is a good source of panthenol, which is a form of vitamin B. You can refer to this article on Bisabolol for more of its amazing benefits!
Brightening: Niacinamide, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Alpha-Bisabolol
Anti-Aging: Niacinamide, Ceramide III
Promotes Wound Healing: Panthenol, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Alpha-Bisabolol
This mask helps tighten and revitalise the skin while we are sleeping so that we can wake up to rejuvenated skin in the morning!
NAH, THE BAD ONES
Sad to say, this contains fragrance. But I personally think this is a must. Because without fragrance, I sincerely think this mask would have a smell that I wouldn't have been able to accept. After applying this mask and leaving it to dry, I've been detecting a very faint smell that closely resembles the smell of a rotten egg. Not sure if it's my own imagination (because this mask also contains Hydrolyzed Egg Shell Membrane), but I'm pretty sure it would have smelled a lot worse had it not been infused with fragrance.
Triethanolamine has a comedogenic rating of two, so it could potentially cause acne but I haven't had any issue with it so far after using it for two weeks now although my skin has become slightly sensitive due to hormonal changes.
Phenoxyethanol is also a type of fragrance. Both this and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate act as a preservative to prevent the product from going bad. As a result, this mask can last for three years after opening.
The mask is white in colour but it dries down to form a transparent 'veil'.

PUT IT ON AND GO TO BED
There are two ways to use this mask.
1) Put on a generous amount of the mask, wait for it to dry, which usually requires 15 minutes, and just go to bed. Don't need to wash it off until the next day. That way you can gain the maximum benefits that this mask can offer. This is also the recommended way of using the mask according to Dr. Douxi and the application method that I've been using for the past two weeks!
2) Also put on a generous amount of the mask and wait for it to dry. However, this time instead of going straight to bed, you wash it off after it has totally dried off. That's why I'm calling it a peel-off mask. You will be able to see a result almost immediately! Don't believe me? See for yourselves!
I'm going to use it as a peel-off mask now.
SMELL AND TEXTURE
Other than the slightly weird smell during application, it actually smells okay when I first opened it up. The texture is very watery for a mask and can be spread very easily on the skin. Due to that, I didn't use a brush to apply the mask. It did not come with a spatula, so I would just use my finger to dig up the product (and partly because I'm lazy haha). Not very hygienic haha so if you have a spare spatula, feel free to use it!
While it is slowly drying down. I can still smile and talk!
FEEL IT ON MY SKIN
After it has dried down on my skin, it creates this glass skin look which I'm super in love with. It does not pull on the skin like other mask would and I can still sneeze and yawn while having the mask on. This is good especially since I'm going to bed with this! I also like how smooth my skin feels every time I wash it off in the morning. The cooling sensation (this is when the mask is drying down) and the radiant look after removing the mask are simply the best of all.
15 minutes is up! Let me slowly peel it off.
WHAT CAN I SAY?
Yes, I'm going to recommend this one. The first and most important thing that gives me the confidence to recommend this is because it did not cause my sensitive skin to flush during the whole course of application. The second thing is the results. I can immediately see my face brighten up after application and I really love it! That means this can be used as a quick pick-me-up whenever I have a big event coming up the next day!
I hadn't finished peeling the upper part of my face. But comparing just my cheek, can you detect a glow that wasn't there in the before pic?

I got a little impatient haha so I just washed it off with water.
This gooey (and disgusting) little 'thing' is what you'd rub off your face if you wash it off with water.
