|REVIEW| Unpa Bubi Bubi Lip: A Lip Scrub That Saves Lips

unpa bubi bubi lip scrub review

LIPSTICKS? NO!
My lips are just the worst. They always crack and look dry that I really can't put on any lipsticks without looking all weird and ugly. What's worse is that they are so pale that without some artificial colour, I'd look very sickly. That's a serious dilemma there. So, when I found out the Unpa has this Bubi Bubi Lip Lip Scrub and it is on Style Korean, I grabbed it as fast as I can. I'm seriously not a fan of those lip scrubs with microbeads. Now, can this do my lips a favour?

LET ME SHOW YOU
To let you see how bad it is, I will show you a before picture (below) of my lips where I wear Peripera's Ink The Airy Velvet, Shade #10 Dry Rose Brown. Focus on how the lines on my lips are so prominent and that totally defeats my purpose of wearing the lip tint. By the way, this Ink The Airy Velvet from Peripera is so light on my lips I'm fascinated by it! I love how the colour turns up on my lips too. Just wish I could wear it every day. Hmm, in order for that to happen, let's solve my dry and cracked lips issue.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
You can read more about the bolded ingredients by clicking on them. Once on the page, just search for the ingredient names and it will lead you straight to the relevant paragraphs that talk about the ingredients.

Anti-Aging: Ceramide 2

NAH, THE BAD ONES
Because this is going to foam/bubble up, it needs Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether and  Cocamidopropyl Betaine (a foam boosting agent). I've briefly talked about how bubbling/oxygen masks work here in this Rivecowe Bubble Mask Review. You can stop by there to have a look if you're interested in knowing more about the magic haha!

The four stages that this lip scrub will go through demonstrated on my hand.

Before putting on any lip product.

After putting on the Peripera Ink The Airy Velvet #10 Dry Rose Brown. Can you see how badly in shape my lips are? 😢

AN EARLY LOOK
For hygienic purposes, it comes in a pump. The pump design earns it 5 points (out of 10) already because I'm all about ease of use when it comes to a skincare product. It smells just like some candy that I'd love. I normally use one and a half pump because I want it to cover my whole lips once it bubbles up. When applying, I go over the edge of my lips instead of just covering my lips. Just want to make sure every inch of my lips gets what they deserve!

Applying the lip scrub.

Done! Now let's wait for it to foam up hehe.

ONGOING SIZZLING SOUND
Wooo! This is the best part. Once it goes on, I can immediately feel a cooling effect. Like seriously, every mask that I'm using lately has a cooling effect, now my lip scrub too? I love it! This Unpa lip scrub bubbles up in the matter of seconds. So fast I was almost unable to capture my lips before everything started to foam! But this also means I can easily use this even though I'm rushing out to somewhere to quickly fix my chapped lips. It was sizzling and bubbling a lot on my lips while I was typing this!

Look how much it has foamed up!

Side view for you to see better haha.

TIME IS UP
Now that it has been 5 minutes (the recommended time), wait, don't wash it off immediately. Now it's time to do the real scrubbing! Yes, the front part was just to help soften the dead skin cells (and let us have fun seeing it bubble up). We have to manually scrub our lips with our fingers to get rid of those softened dead cells. While I was diligently rubbing my lips, my lips felt a little warm, just a little. Also, be careful not to open your lips during the process because this lip scrub tastes really bitterly!

Once the foam has 'died' down a little after around 5 minutes, it's time to scrub!

Woah, there's a little warming sensation and the Unpa lip scrub just bubbled up again!

SCRUB IN THE BATHROOM
The time has come for us to see how effective this lip scrub is. It took me another 5 minutes to really get to every corner of my lips. I even used my finger to lightly scrape my lips a little. If you want to do that, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before. Also you don't want to put too much force on your lips while doing so. While I was rubbing and scraping, I also wiped off some of the bubbles that were on the edge of my lips for fear that they will drop onto the floor.

Keep your mouth close to prevent ingesting the bitter liquid!

JUDGEMENT TIME
My lips felt a lot smoother and more even although I was kind of wishing for another level of smoothness haha. To test it, I put on the Peripera Ink The Airy Velvet again to see. This time, instead of seeing the accentuated ugly lip lines and dry patches, I can finally focus on the beautiful colour of the Ink The Airy Velvet Dry Rose Brown. When I rub my lips against each other, there was less friction and I just couldn't thank Unpa Bubi Bubi Lip enough.

It looks like my lips have softened a lot and the dry patches are largely removed.

I DON'T HAVE TO SAY
Just by seeing the results, I'm sold. It exfoliated my lips so nicely, all I need is a little moisture and I would be able to wear my favourite lip tint! I hate using toothbrush to exfoliate my lips because it hurts a little each time and the results are not always that good because the dead cells can sometimes be a little stubborn. But with this Unpa baby, I guess I can now wear my favourite lip tint to work every morning without worrying about accentuated chapped lips! Woohoo!

  1. This seems like such a different way to get rid of dead skin on the lips! I usually use my lush lip scrub but I wouldn't mind mixing it up with this every now and again x

  2. I used to suffer from dry, cracked lips when I was a teenager to the point of bleeding (which was truly embarrassing). It was more than a decade later that I learned to apply moisturising lipsticks, which reduced the problem quite substantially. Now I apply lipbalm first prior to applying the lipstick. That really helps me a lot in preventing dry & cracked lips. I hope your lips are faring much better now.
