|REVIEW| Dr. Douxi Essence of Eggshell Cream Soap 朵璽 美美卵殼皂

To be honest, I've never tried a cream soap on my face before. Forget that, I've never even tried a soap bar before. So today, I'm going to give my first to Dr. Douxi, a taiwanese professional skincare brand that has won multiple awards! It sounds like a a chore to use a soap bar. Imagine having to rub rub rub to create bubbles and foam before I can start washing my face, tiring, isn't it? But, as the saying goes, nothing's worthwhile without requiring a little of hard work!

Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract can soothe sensitive skin and give the skin a moisture boost. It makes this Cream Soap a great one for peep with dry and sensitive skin type!

UV Protection: Titanium Dioxide

Like this Purito Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pad, I've noted no bad ingredient in this Dr. Douxi Essence of Eggshell Cream Soap. But if you know me, I'd always recommend a patch test before you put anything to your whole face. For a cleanser, just test it on the areas where you're less sensitive for a few days before using it to wash the whole face. Better to be safe than sorry!

Rub rub rub.

Its foam is surprisingly thick and is a little sticky. That's because this soap contains Hydrolyzed Egg Shell Membrane, which is chitin-rich. This ingredient can help provide extra protection to the skin, increase moisture content and even has anti-ageing properties as it can reduce the appearance of fine lines. They say you have to start early in preventing ageing. It doesn't just mean starting early in terms of age, but also in the earlier steps of skincare, i.e. the cleansing step.

Can you see the gooey slime there?

Having no heavy smell, containing no bad ingredients and not drying on the skin already placed this soap very high on my list. Now it's time to find out how well it can clean and that will decide if it enters my skincare routine permanently HAHA! For me, as long as it cleans off my eyeshadow and concealer, I'm happy with it. But for the sake of this test, I've included my waterproof eyeliner and mascara just to see how well it can do. Shall we?

Having the most commonly used makeup items I have on the back of my hand, i.e. eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil, lip tint, lipstick and concealer.

All gone except the stubborn waterproof mascara and a little of the lip tint.

The result is pretty good for a soap bar I would say! And yes, it also does not sting at all! Which is why I've been using it on my eyelids to help completely take off the eyeshadow after I've run Bioderma over my eyes once. Although I really don't recommend keeping your eyes open while you cleanse (please don't ever do that LOL) and remember to always be gentle with the eye areas when you're cleansing them.

It creates a white creamy foam that disappears very quickly as it slowly dries up.

Everyone here is familiar with cleansers that come in bottles and pumps. But a soap bar? All you have to do is first wet your hand. Then take the soap bar and rub it on your palm in a circular motion. Lather it until you see some white creamy foam and stop when you think it is sufficient for your whole face. For me, I will normally just rub for around 3-5 seconds. Then I will slap it on my face and start cleaning. After that, just wash it off and you're good to go!

Can you see the word, Dr Douxi on the soap?

After testing it out for 2 weeks now, all I can say is this Dr. Douxi Essence of Eggshell Cream Soap is going to last me a life time (exaggerating here haha). It barely reduced in size although I'm super generous whenever it comes to cleansing. Forgot to mention, after cleansing with this Cream Soap, it leaves my skin smooth but rubbery. The feeling dissipates moment later so I'm okay with it. You can apply the 3 second rule by quickly putting on some toner if you're not a fan of that rubbery feeling.

So far it didn't break me out, that's good news! My skin has reacted very well to the soap and I don't feel any drying effect right after using the soap. I have combination skin type, so this is basically the best choice for me according to this diagram below, taken from Chericheri.co. Because this soap has two other versions, for those of you who are worried that this is not the correct version for you, here's a diagram which you can refer to and select based on your skin type:
