|REVIEW| Purito Centella Green Level Recovery Cream

HARD TO PLEASE
I don't know if you're like me, but I'm not particularly happy when my beauticians start babbling about how badly I'm taking care of my skin / when my dermatologists prescribe meds for me without asking me what my existing daily skincare routines are or further understanding the underlying issues I might have. It gives me that kind of impression where they are just trying to make more sales / to get me out of their office instead of actually wanting to help me with my skin condition. Sigh, do you feel me? ☹️

STOP COMPLAINING
Rants aside, I'm here today to review this Purito Centella Green Level Recovery Cream. It is the last product in the Centella line by Purito and also the most powerful of all. Hmm, powerful? Why would I say that? Let's let the ingredient list do all the storytelling haha!

INGREDIENT LIST

(Skincarisma)

Centella Asiatica Extract (50%), Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Niacinamide (2%), Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, *Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Tribehenin, *Stearic Acid, Behenic Acid, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Tromethamine, Spent Grain Wax, Carbomer, Caprylyl Glycol, Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Betaine, Beta-Glucan, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Cholesterol, Adenosine, *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Phytosphingosine, Ceramide, Madecassic Acid, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne/irritate skin than those without.

The back of the tube

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
You can read more about the bolded ingredients by clicking on them. Once on the page, just search for the ingredient names and it will lead you straight to the relevant paragraphs that talk about the ingredients.

Brightening: Niacinamide
Anti-Aging: Niacinamide, Adenosine, Ceramide & Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
Promotes Wound Healing: Centella Asiatica Extract

It contains 50% of Centella Asiatica Extract, which is 1% higher than the Centella Green Level Buffet Serum. Looking at the ingredient list, we can see there are Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil and Ceramide. These three ingredients make this Recovery Cream super moisturising on the skin, which means it should be great on people with dry skin type.

Purito even went to the extent of requesting a test on this and the Purito Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pad from the Korea Institute of Dermatological Science. The results came back stating that both of these Centella line products are non-irritating to all skin types.

A little description of the cream in both Korean and English.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
All of the ingredients are rated as green by EWG. So this one is totally safe to use on all skin types!

If you have oily skin, Stearic Acid can potentially clog pores as it has a comedogenic rating of 3.

For sensitive skin beauty lovers, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil may potentially irritate your skin if it is at a concentration too high. However, seeing that its position in the ingredient list above is quite low, indicating that its concentration here is not too high, so I don't think it should be causing you to have any concern. I would still recommend patch testing (I always do) before applying it to your whole face.

p.s. Concentration of an ingredient is normally indicated by its position in the ingredient list. More highly positioned equals to more highly concentrated.

From ingredient list to directions, Purito has every little detail covered!

IT IS A CREAM, HOW?
At first I was a bit worried about putting cream on my skin. My beautician in the past has warned me against using cream products because according to her my skin is more towards the oily side and those cream products will cause me acnes. But ever since I started on Oratane, my skin has slowly switched from one end of the scale to another. I don't oil up that much anymore and sometimes I feel my skin is a little too dry especially now that I spend 24 hours in an air-conditioned room.

Follow me:

The cream texture is super light and thin.

NOT WORRIED ANYMORE
Having my beautician's advice stuck at the back of my mind, I proceeded to using this with caution. I started by only using it on the pimples on the left side of my face and my chin. I didn't put it on my whole face because I wanted to patch test and make sure. All I was hoping was for it to not cause any new bumps and it would be perfect if it could reduce redness and help flatten the bump on my skin. It fulfilled all that. On top of that, it also gives the moisture boost that I love because I'm super into having a dewy complexion!

Spreading it a little.

MORE THAN JUST FACE
I always use this as the last step of my skincare routine on my troubled spots. Yes I use this as a spot treatment. But you can use it as a moisturiser, not just on your face, but on your whole body as well. You can apply this on the drier areas of your body or even your chapped lips to give them a moisture boost. I like to apply it on my elbows which tend to get really dry especially when I don't drink enough water. Most importantly, unlike the COSRX Centella Blemish Cream, it doesn't leave a white stain and can be easily patted in. That eases the application process and allows it to be used on our body more easily!

It's thin enough for our skin to fully absorb it without leaving a trace!

GIMME A HINT!
This Centella Green Level Recovery Cream smells incredibly therapeutic. It doesn't have a heavy smell but if you do manage to detect it, I can assure you it is a pleasant one. The smell is also consistent with that of the Buffet Serum. Texture wise, it is creamy but super light on the skin. Once patted in you won't feel it on your skin at all other than a very minor tightening effect after it has dried down completely. Also, it is not tacky at all, I even think it is less sticky compared to the Buffet Serum!

Here's the stickiness test as a proof:

Punched some papers and have them on my hand.

Let's flip!

One, two and three! Buffet Serum officially lost the game haha! Go see how many was left when I did this test on the Centella Green Level Buffet Serum!

WHAT IS MY SAY?
By all means, grab it. This one basically acts like a protective barrier for our skin when applied. It can help keep those unwanted skin irritant away from our skin besides just supplies tonnes of nutrients to our skin. Having a rather oily nose and forehead, I avoided putting too thick a layer on those areas, but it has never caused me any issue so far. Instead I felt that it has helped substantially in terms of fading the acne marks and reducing acne formation.

I think this is what most of you are here for haha:

This is how my skin transformed in 21 days (a.k.a. 3 weeks), pay attention to my chin, my cheek and my nose. I applied the cream in circular motion while gently tapping my skin.

Note: I'm also taking Oratane but the moisture level maintenance and fading of marks are greatly contributed by the whole Centella line, much of the effort goes to the Buffet Serum as it contains 49% of Centella which just calms my skin and helps it recover much more quickly.

SOME CLARIFICATIONS
Just thought I should mention this, during the past one week, I've been staying up late and waking up early for work. Yet my skin doesn't look that tired and stressed out which used to almost always lead to breakouts 😭. I think this is largely contributed by this whole Centella Line (not just the cream).
