|REVIEW| Purito Centella Green Level Calming Toner

IT'S PURITO AGAIN
Well, hello! I'm back with another Purito review, again! Remember how much I raved about Purito in my previous posts on the Mild Pad, Buffet Serum and the Recovery Cream? My skin loves them so much all thanks to the high concentration of Centella Asiatica that they contain. I feel so blessed that I get to try the new Calming Toner that was just launched last month! Thank you Purito for this wonderful opportunity! Now, let's do an honest review on this Calming Toner, shall we?

NOTHING BEATS...
If you're trying to attain the chok chok skin look, nothing beats a good moisturising toner. A strong moisturising base is the most important element if you want to walk out that door looking flawless. This Centella Green Level Calming Toner is rich in Centella Asiatica and Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate). I'm already a little biased when I saw Centella. This is my favourite ingredient for skincare because I love how well it calms my skin and fades the acne marks I got.

The ingredient list and directions on the box.

INGREDIENT LIST

You can read other product reviews containing the bolded ingredients by clicking on them in the ingredient list above.

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne or irritate skin than those without.

As this is a Korean brand, it has the ingredient list and directions in Korean as well.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
All of the ingredients are rated as green by EWG. So this one is totally safe to use on all skin types!

Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

Butylene Glycol, Panthenol and Sodium Hyaluronate are all powerful moisturiser. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin! Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

The details on the bottle.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
For oily skin peep, your best friends are Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract and Allantoin. The two of them has soothing effect and are known for its protectant properties on the skin. Especially Allantoin, it can improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.

I feel like I've never given enough love to Trehalose here, also a main ingredient noted in one of the products in the Bare Essential line by Althea (<< click to read the review!). Trehalose is a sugar found in plants, fungi and invertebrate animals, normally used in beauty products as a flavoring agent and moisturiser. It has antioxidant powers and can help retain the skin's moisture that it would otherwise lose. Sounds awesome for dry skin people and those who want to reduce ageing signs!

Promotes Wound Healing: Panthenol & Centella Asiatica Extract

Love the transparent bottle design.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
Other than the Cananga Odorata Flower Oil which may possibly irritate those who have sensitive skin at high concentration (which I don't think is the issue here, see *Note below), SkinCarisma has not highlighted anything bad at all from this ingredient list! This is not surprising at all from my experience with the whole Centella Green Level Line from Purito. Now, let's see how it does!

*Note: Concentration of an ingredient is normally indicated by its position in the ingredient list. More highly positioned equals to more highly concentrated.

THE VERY FIRST THING
I LOVE the smell SO MUCH! It's so pleasantly mind calming that I just couldn't wait to put it on every morning and night. I've never looked forward to putting on toner so much in my life! But the very first thing that attracted me the most was its green transparent plastic packaging that is very sturdy to hold and minimalistic at the same time. I like to be able to see through my skincare products because that makes gauging how much I have left much much easier!

I like the hygienic design and I don't have to squeeze at all to get the transparent liquid out.

REMOVE THE SEAL AND GO
With a screwing cap, it has the typical yet hygienic design that a toner usually comes with. I seldom use a cotton pad with my toner (don't like to waste my cotton pads when I could've just used my hands), so I just pour some on one of my palms, close them to get the toner on both palms and pat it on my face. I usually go for the cheeks first, before bringing the transparent liquid to my forehead, then my nose. I even rub a little to warm up my palms for better absorption.

Can you see how runny the toner is?

DO NOT STOP THERE
I never just stop at one application. The Calming Toner is extremely lightweight and has a very tempting smell, I want more of that! So I usually put on at least another two to three layers to give an intense hydration boost to my skin. My skin would be well prepared before I go on to slap a layer of the Buffet Serum from the same Centella Green Level Line on it. I've tried the 7 skin method with this baby (i.e. 7 layers of toner) and even with all the layers, it doesn't feel tacky nor heavy at all.

A stickiness test: Look! It is not sticky although I just applied it before I did the test.

LOOK AT IT
Having used it for more than three weeks now, all I want to say is, thank you, Purito! Thank you for coming up with the Centella Green Level Line and thank you for introducing me to it. I've never thought one day I would be able to have a skincare routine that is 100% centella based! My skin loves centella and reacts well to it. It always manages to calm my increasingly sensitive skin (the effect of ageing!) and give it a glow that maintains even through my busiest period at work. 💚

My pores didn't exactly get 'eliminated' entirely but they look slightly less prominent than before.

A HIDDEN GEM
The Purito wave hasn't really hit the Malaysia market yet but I can't wait it to be! Its Centella products have such amazing ingredients (all green level as identified by EWG) and people need to learn about them!  I'm already a big fan of the line and I cannot see my skincare routine without Purito anymore at the moment. I mean, how easily can you find a toner that has all the good ingredients, smells good, works well and is as affordable as this one?

Grab it, you won't regret it, I don't!
