|REVIEW| Real Barrier Extreme Cream Mask: Delicious

OUT OF HAND
I'm so into the chok chok skin trend that I would sit in front of the mirror for 10 minutes just to look at my cheekbones before realising that I'm late for work. The obsession is serious and it worries me (just kidding, why would I be worried LOL). But what I really want to say is I'm always on the search for a good moisturising mask that can bring me the effects I want (yes, still on the chok chok skin topic) and today I'm gonna share with you one of my favourites.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Butylene Glycol, GlycerinCeramide 3 and Sodium Hyaluronate are all powerful moisturisers. This is why it is able to give me the chok chok skin that I desire and made it to my favourite masks list. Those of you with extremely dry skin, this is a mask that could be great for your skin!

Madecassoside is one of the main bioactive compounds in the plant extract Centella Asiatica. It is an antioxidant by itself but one study showed that even a small amount of it (0.1%), when used with Vitamin C, has great antioxidant benefit when applied to skin. It is also non-sensitising and can help revitalise our skin’s surface.

Centella Asiatica Extract which are known for their skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

See the whitish creamy serum. What a weird way for me to describe the serum LOL.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.

Both Ceramide 3 and Adenosine are also great anti-wrinkle ingredients, especially Adenosine. It is capable of boosting the levels of proteins such as Collagen and Elastin, thereby being able to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and promote wound healing. Oh boy, I need this for my undereye! According to Wishtrend, adenosine can also effectively improves acne caused by oily skin!

Promotes Wound Healing: Panthenol, Madecassoside, Centella Asiatica Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate
Anti-Aging: Ceramide 3, Adenosine

Can you see how much serum there is in this mask pack? 😱

NAH, THE BAD ONES
For sensitive skin friends, beware of Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil and Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil as they may be potentially irritating. Personally, I don't think these two oils have any sensitising effect on my skin other than contributing to the good smell of this mask.

FIRST THING THAT HIT
Oh the smell. It smells just like the mixture of lemon and citrus. Although it has none of the two fruits I just mentioned in it. I've never used a product that has this kind of smell but I'm in love with it. It is a pleasant smell. It takes a while for the smell to dissipate after I've put on and removed the mask from my face. So if you're not a fan of masks with strong smells, this may not be something you'd want to try.

SHOCKED TO THE CORE
Seeing that they named the mask after the Extreme Cream from the same line, I kinda expect the mask to be a little creamy. The packaging also gave out a little as I could feel that there is going to be a lot of liquid inside this mask even before opening it. And I was right! The hydrogel-like mask is literally swimming in a sea of white creamy serum inside the mask pack. Is that good? Hell yeah! What's better than a fully soaked mask? That allows it to deliver the serum evenly to our skin!

Putting it on, the fit is great. Gosh I think I got some of the serum on my hair!

MASK FIT AND ALL
The mask is made of microfibre and is super silky. I had to open it up with caution and with the help of the protective film, in case I accidentally tore it (I managed not to). I love how the mask fitted on my face and it just felt so comfortable. It hugged my skin perfectly and that allowed it to reach even the area around my nose, which most masks tend to miss. Also, the liquid that I thought was white, spread out to be transparent on the skin.

HOW TO USE
With a one-sided protective film, it is better to put it on first before removing it. This is also recommended by Real Barrier itself. Put on the mask with the protective film on the outside, then peel off the film carefully after you have positioned the mask the way you want on your skin. Leave the mask on for 10 to 20 minutes (recommended time) and go do whatever you want. However I did find the mask slid a little when I sat up straight. So I think it's best you lie down for this mask.

Pulling the film off. I definitely got some of the serum on my hair. Ugh.

That's the protective film.

Look how much serum has my hand got from just holding the protective film. Imagine 10 times of liquid on the mask.

UGH, WHO NEEDS HIGHLIGHTER
After 20 minutes, I removed mine and I was welcomed with a very moisturised skin. I love it! My whole complexion is super chok chok and most importantly I didn't notice any irritation or redness. The mask serum that wasn't entirely absorbed into my skin was patted in and left dry. It did become a little tacky even after an hour but I decided to keep it on simply because I loved the glowing complexion it gave me a lot.

After 20 minutes, it's time for me to remove the mask. Woah, my skin is literally soaked!

VERY LIGHTWEIGHT
Unlike some other masks I've tried, the leftover serum didn't feel heavy on my skin at all. It is so lightweight that I don't mind leaving it on the skin until I'm ready to wash my skin in the evening. Since my skin reacts very well to this mask, I begin to wonder if it would like the Extreme Cream itself. Maybe I ought to give the the cream a try soon since my Algae Gel from Serene Aesthetics is finishing up soon.

See how my pores have disappeared? See how moisturised my skin looks? 👍

WHAT'S THE CONCLUSION?
You should know! It's one of my favourite masks!

p.s. the stain you saw on my hand is the evidence that I participated in the voting exercise of my beloved country, Malaysia, last Wednesday. It took a few days to peel off but it is a sign of democracy and hope. To Malaysia and a better future!

  1. Wow I need that mask, my skin could do with that! Also, my friend was telling me about the elections, and how they were very close, but I don't know who she said won x

    1. It's an intensively moisturising mask! You should really give it a try if your skin is more on the dry side. :) The Alliance of Hope (opposition, well, ex-opposition haha) won.
