|REVIEW| AXIS-Y Heartleaf My Type Calming Cream: Calm & Moisturise

CHRISTMAS IS COMING SOON
Christmas is just around the corner and 2021 is finally going to end! So many things are happening all at once recently it's so hard to keep track of time. One moment ago it was just the start of December and suddenly the next moment we are celebrating Christmas already. Do you get the same feeling too? Or is this a sign of ageing? HAHA! Let's get our mind off that for a while and look at this new AXIS-Y product that I have been testing out for weeks.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

Butylene Glycol and Sodium Hyaluronate are both powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a lifesaver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

Also known as Heart Leaf, Houttuynia Cordata is a flowering plant indigenous to Southeast Asia. Its extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties, thus, allowing it to soothe the skin, control sebum, refine pores and reduce germs. It is also shown in researches that the polysaccharides it contains, which when present in skincare, can act as humectants and skin hydrators, which can help to maintain the skin’s moisture levels, rendering it a beneficial ingredient in skincare for dermatitis/eczema-prone skin.

Betaine is a gentle hydrating ingredient that naturally occurs in the skin and the body or could be plant-derived or synthetic, which can help balance our skin's hydration.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Centella Asiatica Extract is known for its skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract has astringent, antiseptic and stimulating properties which allow it to soothe irritation, defend against bacteria and fungi and fight premature ageing.

Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (Licorice) Root Extract is good for fighting acne, skin brightening and calming the skin. It can also diminish the appearance of under-eye dark circles, discolouration and even age spots as well as acting as a powerful antioxidant to protect the skin from environmental stressors and balance oil.

It has a very special dropper in a tube design which helps control the amount of product that we squeeze out each time nicely.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Sorghum Bicolor Leaf/Stem Extract is a sweet juice extract from sorghum plant stalk, which is a type of cereal plant. It is filled with polyols, vitamins B2 and C, potassium and iron. For skincare, it has the ability to help improve our skin texture, brighten and tighten it, reduce wrinkles and stimulate new skin development.

Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.

The blue colour of this product comes from Guaiazulene. This is a dark blue crystalline hydrocarbon sourced from Chamomile and is effective in calming and cooling down heated skin. All Klairs blue products contain this!

NAH, THE BAD ONES
I like how AXIS-Y has always managed to keep its ingredients good and clean! Now, let's see how it actually does!

It is a water-based gel moisturiser that is suitable for all skin types.

KEEP CALM AND MOISTURISE
This cream is actually a solo version of the T-zone cream in the AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream. It is blue in colour and has a water-based gel consistency. Because of its very light texture, it is perfect for those of you (including me!) who live in hot and humid weather. Especially nowadays when we are required to don a mask everywhere we go, having a lightweight moisturiser that does not suffocate the skin is a must.

After fully patting it in, it will leave a satin finish.

A TASTE OF IT
There is a light floral scent to this calming cream by AXIS-Y. It is very gentle on the skin and has a cooling effect. I like how calming and deeply moisturising it feels on the skin every time I put it on. After it has been fully absorbed, it does not feel sticky and is not oily at all. This makes it easy for me to layer on sunblock without feeling uncomfortable when I use it in the morning. Its texture also makes it easy to be spread out and absorbed by the skin.

"Dropping" it on my skin directly.

HOW TO USE
At the final step of your skincare routine, apply the desired amount of cream to the skin. Massage the skin gently and pat it a little to aid the absorption. According to AXIS-Y, if you are looking for extra moisture, it is recommended that you put on 2 - 3 layers of the cream. If you are living in hot and humid weather like me, this can be used as the morning moisturiser. Just apply a thin layer and pat it in gently before putting on sunblock.

Patting it in.

ALREADY A FAN TO BEGIN WITH
I'm already a big fan of the AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream, which makes it a no-brainer for me to love this Heartleaf My Type Calming Cream as well. Because of the weather I live in, I actually use up the T-zone cream much more quickly as I prefer a lighter cream in my morning routine. It is also my go-to when I need something to calm my skin after using benzoyl peroxide or after exfoliation. I guess AXIS-Y really knows what its customers want!

How my skin looks after applying the calming cream, my skin is a little less red and my pores look a little less obvious.
