AXIS-Y Advanced Aqua Boosting Ampoule Review

THERE YOU GO
Hello! I'm back with another review of AXIS-Y's new products! Before we start, let me tell you something: I'm getting married in less than a month's time! Can you believe that! Actually, we originally planned to get married in Feb 2022 but a friend told us that all auspicious dates that we wanted have been fully booked at the Thean Hou Temple.

Seriously, how did those other couples act so fast?! So we ended up going to the KLSCAH to book the last available auspicious date on 1/1/2022 at the very last minute. Because of that, we had a hard time booking a photographer and MUA as most of them have already been fully booked on the date (apparently a lot of people are getting married on that same day too). I shall share more once the ROM (that's short for "Registration of Marriage" for those of you who don't know) is over hehe.

That's a very long intro haha! Now, shall we go back to the review? 🤣

YAS, THE GOOD ONES

Butylene Glycol and Sodium Hyaluronate are both powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a lifesaver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.

Portulaca Oleracea Extract is also known as Purslane. It has anti-inflammatory properties, can help improve overall blood flow, defend the skin against free radicals as well as stimulate cell repair and collagen production. This makes it good for reducing the appearance of scars and wrinkles. It is suitable for every skin type including, even sensitive and reactive skin as it is very gentle.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Centella Asiatica ExtractAsiaticoside and Asiatic Acid are known for their skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella is also known as the tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds. It is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that it facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

Madecassoside is one of the main bioactive compounds in the plant extract Centella Asiatica. It is an antioxidant by itself but one study showed that even a small amount of it (0.1%), when used with vitamin C, has a great antioxidant benefit when applied to the skin. It is also non-sensitising and can help revitalise our skin’s surface.

Like most ampoules/serums in the market, it comes with a dropper.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
As we age, collagen in our skin is being generated more slowly than they are being broken down. This is why most of our skin gets drier and we tend to get more wrinkles and fine lines as we grow old. Hyaluronic Acid can help stimulate collagen synthesis and is wonderful at retaining our skin moisture, which makes it a magical anti-ageing ingredient because youthful-looking skin is one that is properly moisturised, supple and with minimal wrinkles and fine lines! It is also known for its ability to promote wound healing, as well as alleviate other irritations like eczema.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
I like how AXIS-Y has managed to keep its ingredients good and clean! Now, let's see how it actually does!

Its consistency is semi-watery.

WATER YOUR SKIN
Similar to the AXIS-Y Aqua Boosting Essence Toner, this ampoule also contains 10-Hyaluronic Acid and six 6 Green Calming Complex, which makes it super moisturising and calming on irritated skin. This combination of ingredients is able to hydrate and lock in moisture to reach 10 layers deep into the skin delivering a refreshing burst of hydration. Even though it is highly moisturising, it will still leave a silky and smooth finish after it has fully dried down on the skin.

After fully patting it in. It does not leave a greasy film which is amazing.

IT DID NOT END THERE
In coming up with this Ampoule, AXIS-Y used the technology "Anti Sebum P(HD) 0.5%". This technology uses evening primrose, arrowroot, pine needles and elm root complex to help suppress active oxygen in the skin. As a result, it has the ability to help regenerate damaged skin, control sebum secretion, provide pore care and act as an antibacterial agent. It is, therefore, suitable for all skin types throughout each season.

FEEL IT SMELL IT
This AXIS-Y Advanced Aqua Boosting Ampoule is a little thicker than the Toner (which is semi-watery) and is silky to the touch. It can be absorbed quickly by the skin and leaves the skin being completely smooth 10 minutes after application. However, I would recommend applying a thin layer if you are planning to layer more products on the skin as it might get a little sticky if you apply too much. The ampoule has a very mild sweet scent which is not detectable when applied to the skin.

Dropping it on my skin directly.

HOW TO USE
After cleansing your skin and putting on your favourite toner, wait for the products to be fully absorbed before you start applying the ampoule. Using the dropper, put an adequate amount onto your palm, warm it between your palms and gently pat it onto the skin until the ampoule has been fully absorbed. This way you can maximise the absorption and help the ampoule do its job even better. After that, you can move on to applying a moisturiser to lock everything in.

Patting it in.

MY VERDICT
Personally, I love using this Ampoule before I go to sleep. It prevents my skin from being totally dried out by the cold wind from the air conditioner as I get my beauty sleep. I have to admit that it can sometimes get a little sticky if I accidentally apply too much. But that can be easily overcome (you can refer to the How to Use section again to see how to get rid of the stickiness) and I'm so in love with the hydrating effect that it gives my skin. Last but not least, give it a try! You won't regret it!

My skin became a little less red right after applying the ampoule.
