|REVIEW| AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream: For Combination Skin

Axis-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream Review

DOUBLE TROUBLE
As a combination skin beauty lover with drier U-zone and slightly oilier T-zone, I have always had this problem where the moisturiser suitable for my T-zone is not moisturising enough for my U-zone and the moisturiser good enough for my U-zone is too moisturising for my T-zone. I ended up having to buy two different moisturiser just to ensure the right part of my skin gets the right product that it needs. Do you face the same problem too? If the answer is yes, you need to read on!

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

Butylene Glycol and Sodium Hyaluronate are both powerful moisturiser. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

Also known as Heart Leaf, Houttuynia Cordata, is a flowering plant indigenous to Southeast Asia. Its extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties, thus, allowing it to soothe the skin, control sebum, refine pores and reduce germs. It is also shown in researches that the polysaccharides it contains, which when present in skincare, can act as humectants and skin hydrators, which can help to maintain the skin’s moisture levels, rendering it a beneficial ingredient in skincare for dermatitis/eczema-prone skin.

Betaine is a gentle hydrating ingredient that naturally occurs in skin and the body or could be plant-derived or synthetic, which can help balance our skin's hydration.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Centella Asiatica Extract is known for its skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract has astringent, antiseptic and stimulating properties which allow it soothe irritation, defend against bacteria and fungi and fight premature ageing.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract is good for fighting acne, skin brightening and calming the skin. It can also diminish the appearance of under-eye dark circles, discolouration and even age spots as well as acting as a powerful antioxidant to protect the skin from environmental stressors and balance oil.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Sorghum Bicolor Leaf/Stem Extract is a sweet juice extract from sorghum plant stalk, which is a type of cereal plant. It is filled with poloyls, vitamins B2 and C, potassium and iron. For skincare, it has the ability to help improve our skin texture, brighten and tighten it, reduce wrinkles and stimulate new skin development.

Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.

Ceramide NP makes this super moisturising on the skin, which means it should be great on people with dry skin type.

Portulaca Oleracea Extract is also known as Purslane. It has anti-inflammatory properties, can help improve overall blood flow, defend the skin against free radicals as well as stimulate cell repair and collage production. This makes it good for reducing the appearance of scars and wrinkles. It is suitable for every skin type including, even sensitive and reactive skin as it is very gentle.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
I like being able to skip this part. Skincarisma has not highlighted anything bad at all from this ingredient list! Now, let's see how it actually does!

Moisturiser for combination skin
The white U-zone cream is cream-based and thicker in consistency compared to the blue T-zone cream.

HOLY GRAIL ALERT!
Lucky for us, AXIS-Y has come up with the Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream. As the name suggests, this Duo Cream contains two different types of moisturiser which can target both oily and dry skin. It is the perfect moisturiser for combination skin. For me, this has quickly become a holy grail because it saves a lot of trouble in switching between moisturisers during my skincare routine. All I need to now, is open one tub of moisturiser and just apply the right cream to the right area.

Moisturiser for combination skin
The blue T-zone cream is more watery and lightweight.

WHITE AND BLUE
Its U-zone cream is white in colour and is cream-based. It doesn't have a very distinctive smell and is definitely not detectable when applied on the skin. The consistency is not thick at all and it melts into the skin right away after application. For the T-zone cream, it is blue in colour and is a water-based gel moisturiser. It is very lightweight, has a floral scent and has a much thinner consistency compared to the U-zone cream hence enabling it to hydrate the oilier parts without leaving any greasiness.

This is how I apply the blue and white creams.

HOW TO USE
I am using it in both my morning and night routine. Because of Malaysia's hot and humid weather, in the morning after putting on my toner and essence,  I will apply only the blue cream all over my face before putting on sunscreen. By the way, that's another plus point of this product because I can easily switch between the two moisturisers based on the weather without having to buy two different products. At night, I will apply the white cream to my cheeks and chin and the blue cream to my T-zone.

Moisturiser for combination skin
Blue cream has a more distinctive smell than white cream but the smell doesn't linger after application.

OILY? TACKY?
After application, I will gently pat my skin until the cream is fully absorbed by my skin. I love this Duo Cream so much because it is neither oily nor tacky. I can feel the deep moisturising effect the moment I put on the blue and white cream, yet both of them dry down to a very comfortable and non-sticky finish, which is super amazing and makes both the cream great makeup bases. They also don't pill under makeup which is another big plus point!

Moisturiser for combination skin
Top 2 pictures show that after drying down, both the creams will not leave a shiny finish.
Bottom 2 pictures is a stickiness test. As you can see, only a few got stuck at the curvy area of my hand, indicating that the cream is not sticky at all once it dries down.

VALUE FOR MONEY
Buying a 2-in-1 at a price of one is the best deal ever. I no longer have to spend double the amount to get two different moisturisers just to make sure my combination skin is well taken care of. Not just that, having this 2-in-1 has also saved some space on my already crowded vanity. If you have combination skin and are having trouble finding the right moisturiser to fit your skin needs, I'd highly recommend you to try this out!

Can you see that the fine lines near my eyes (enlarged) are much less visible after I put on this moisturiser?
