YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Centella Asiatica Leaf/Stem Extract and Centella Asiatica Root Extract are known for their skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns. It can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation, reducing scarring.
Butylene Glycol and Panthenol are both powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a lifesaver for those of you with extremely dry skin!
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.
Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide (TFPS) is an extract of Tremella Fuciformis Berk, also known as a snow fungus. It is said to have potent anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing effects. elmt research team has included this in the formula as it can help reduce the potential slight skin irritation that Centella might bring about. Ultimately, the synergy between these two ingredients (TFPS and Centella) can heal and soothe the skin as well as keeping it moisturised.
NAH, THE BAD ONES
Finally, I can skip this one again and my heart just did a backflip there out of happiness! Skincarisma has not highlighted anything bad at all from this ingredient list! This is not surprising at all as my skin has reacted very positively towards this Advanced Calming Solution by elmt after using it for a while now. Now, let's go into the texture, smell, feel and results part of this lovely one!

WAIT, ELMT?
If you don't know yet, elmt (pronounced as "element") is a new brand in 2021. It is a formula-driven skincare brand led by a group of researchers who believe in high-quality ingredients and purposeful formulas. Their purpose is to create skincare products that can deliver maximum effectiveness. I am an advocate for good and simple ingredients. Judging from their vision, elmt certainly fits the bill. Just look at its 18-item ingredient list above. Now let's see how it performs in real life?
AS LIGHT AS A FEATHER
The liquid solution is watery and super lightweight. With its ingredients, it can be used both as a toner and a serum. Because it is so lightweight, it gets absorbed into the skin really quickly. Whenever I feel that my skin is a little irritated, I will apply this and my skin would feel much better. Why does it have such power? That's because it's enriched with more than 59.12% Centella Asiatica extract, a superstar ingredient highly lauded for its reparative properties.
I SMELLED NOTHING
If there is any smell at all, I'd say it's so faint my nose can't detect it when I'm using it. I often feel like I'm applying water (except that it's packed with skin-calming Centella and polysaccharides) to my skin. That being said, the solution looks exactly like water. It also isn't tacky at all after it has been fully absorbed by my skin. Thanks to its very watery formula, you do not have to worry about it being oily. It also makes a good base for the skincare products that I'm applying next.
You can also pour it on your palm and pat it on the face.
HOW TO USE
For me, I have been using it in the morning at night. After cleansing my skin, I'd pour it directly on my skin and use my palm to gently pat the solution into my skin. If you want to keep your hands clean, you can also dampen a cotton pad with the solution and gently sweep it over your face and neck. Personally, I use it as a toner to prep my skin before putting on my serum and moisturiser. Sometimes I put on a few layers of it followed by a moisturiser and call it a day depending on my skin condition.
Tips:
Adjust the usage according to how your skin feels. More isn't always better. Slowly experiment and find the right balance for yourself to get supple skin.
MY SAY IS
I already fell in love the first time I put this Advanced Calming Solution by elmt onto my skin. It calms the skin and is so thin that I can put it under my sunscreen and makeup even under the hot and humid weather in Malaysia. I also use it after using The Ordinary's AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution to quickly calm the skin back down. I have now made it a staple in my skincare routine. High-quality toner that is inexpensive and costs only USD19? Definitely highly recommended!
