|REVIEW| Yadah Soothing Mask Pack: What Smell Is That?

yadah soothing mask pack review

KOREA SHEETMASKS
I just came back from Korea in September and it was my first trip abroad with my boyfriend. We explored Myeongdong and paid a visit to the infamous Nara Island. It was an eye-opening experience for both of us. The masks there are super cheap. Innisfree masks there are like RM2 each and Dr. Jart+ masks sold in All Mask Story are like RM36 per pack (each pack has 5 pieces)? Innisfree was having some sort of buy 10 free 10 promotion so we bought 120 of the masks haha!

p.s. I got this Yadah Soothing Mask Pack during my Company's Secret Santa event though.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

There is 9,800ppm of Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract in this mask, which is its main ingredient. Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract is a powerful firming ingredient. It can retain the skin's moisture longer, calm the skin down while keeping it smooth. I heard that it has also been used as an alternative to Botox because of its firming qualities!

Butylene Glycol and Sodium Hyaluronate are both powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

We all know Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, i.e. Aloe Vera is very famous for its hydrating properties. Containing Auxin and Gibberellins, Aloe Vera is a pro in promoting wound healing (it treats minor burn like a queen). It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help bring down skin inflammation, which is why it has been very used as an ingredient in acne products.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do be cautious this!

THE SMELL IS..
I don't know what to describe. It has a strong and weird smell. Something about it that reminds me of an almond milk? When it was on my face I can still faintly detect the smell. I think that is because this mask is made of purely vegetable essence. There is no added fragrance which is great if your skin can be easily irritated. However, if you are particularly sensitive to smell, you may want to rethink before you give this a try.

Yadah is really generous with the serum. The mask is soaked in a transparent liquid.

HOW TO USE
After opening the mask, take a little of the essence and put it on your neck and wait for 5 minutes (patch-testing!). If everything looks okay, unfold the mask and slowly flatten it out on your skin according to the contour of your face. You can either apply the extra serum on your neck or to the face mask. Set a timer of 20-30 minutes and you can either rest, watch TV or work. The mask adheres so well that it didn't fall off or move an inch even though I was sitting upright the whole time.

Pardon my rbf haha. Showing you the shape and cut-out of the mask.

THICK AND THIN
The sheet mask is quite thick but it adheres to my face shape quite nicely. The cut-out of the mask doesn't fit my features that perfectly though with the mouth area being a little wide and the forehead and nose areas being a little too short. Since this is a sheet mask and Yadah is trying its best to cater for every face shape, I shouldn't really complain much.

This is a cotton mask and it is quite thick.

WHAT IS IT LIKE
The mask feels very cool on the skin and is very moisturising. I haven't stored this mask in the fridge (because I am lazy haha) and it is cooling enough to lower my skin's temperature by a few degree celcius. This can help retain skin moisture as it prevents water loss. It also effectively soothed my skin, reducing the redness on my forehead. That said, it had served its purpose as a soothing mask! Awesome!

See the pimple on top? It looks a little more calmed down after the mask! It is also not sticky or greasy.

STAY OR RUN
Well, it all depends on whether you can withstand the smell haha. If you're not particularly sensitive to heavy smell, I'd say give it a try! It has a friendly price tag and soothes the skin reasonably well. It is also easily purchasable from drug stores such as Watsons and available on most online shopping places like Shopee, Hermo and Amazon. But, if smell is something you always pay attention to when using a product, do think twice about this!

These are the two Yadah masks that I have. The blue one is the Yadah Soothing Mask Pack while the green one is the Yadah Brightening Mask Pack.
