DIAMOND AND GOLD
How can I leave out a Diamond Mask after I've just done a review on a Gold Mask? So I finally dug this out of my stash and am ready to give it a good try. This is a mask I received from KStyles a while back when they were having a giveaway. I was so excited when they announced that I've won this Clapiel Diamond Mask! I've been wanting to try a Diamond Mask for some time now so this is like a dream come true hehe. 😍
Clapiel AUS Black Diamond Mask (1pc for USD4)
INGREDIENT LIST
It has a rather long ingredient list.

Back of the mask
The Good Ones
There are plenty of natural ingredients in this little piece of mask. The top few ingredients highlighted by Clapiel are Algae Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Phytoplacenta Extract, Diamond Powder, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract and Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract. They are very rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Hence can help maintain the elasticity of our skin and give it a radiant look.
Both Niacinamide and Snail Secretion Filtrate are great for skin brightening. You can learn more about Niacinamide from this post on Klairs Vitamin E Mask (just go to the link and search for Niacinamide). Snail Secretion Filtrate contains hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein, proteoglycans, and antimicrobial and copper peptides, which can help to protect our skin from damage, infection, dryness and UV rays. Looking at what it contains, it also works well as an anti-ageing ingredient!

The Good Ones (Cont'd)
We all know Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, i.e. Aloe Vera is very famous for its hydrating properties. Containing Auxin and Gibberellins, Aloe Vera is a pro in promoting wound healing (it treats minor burn like a queen). It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help bring down skin inflammation, which is why it has been very used as an ingredient in acne products.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is popularly used as an anti-ageing ingredient. It is also anti-carcinogenic as it has been shown to inhibit the body's immune suppression and skin cancer induction that typically follows exposure to UVB ray. This is an ingredient loved by oily skin as it can help soothe and protect the skin without causing any unwanted reaction.

The Good Ones (Cont'd)
Although I haven't seen it in the list above, on the package it says that this mask is EGF Concentrated. If you read my event coverage on Jeunesse's product launch or the April 22 Rose Energy Cream review, you may have seen the name EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) before. It is a protein that stimulates cell growth and the scientists have won Nobel Prize discovering this protein. Its regenerating properties have been utilised in here to help produce collagens, minimise pores, prevent wrinkles and accelerate tissue repair.
The Bad Ones
The Potassium Chloride in this list is comedogenic for oily skin, i.e. can potentially block pores. So if you know your skin normally doesn't react well to something with Potassium Chloride, you might want to skip this. Otherwise, we are good to go!
Tearing along the tear here mark.
PASSED MANY TESTS
From what I read on KStyles' website, this Black Diamond Mask from Clapiel has passed skin sensitization test, allergy test, oral toxicity test and eye irritancy test. I think that's mainly because it is free of paraben, alcohol, sulphate, artificial pigment and petroleum oil. I'm particularly sensitive to products that contain alcohol so this one is definitely a safe one for me.
YAY ANOTHER ONE!
Also, this is my favourite kind of mask, a hydrogel mask. According to Clapiel, it is made by the world's first biotech polymer technology and powerful protein delivery technology. It uses Protein Transduction Domain (a class of diverse peptides, typically with 5–30 amino acids) which can efficiently transport "cargos" which are several times greater in molecular weights than their own. Wow, that sounds very scientifically impressive haha 😂. Now it all comes down to how it actually performs on my skin.
OMG the mask is so glittery under flash! Also, can you see the tear? LOL I was just taking it out and it was already torn! Whaat? The transparent film is slowly slipping off too HAHA!
HOW TO USE
We are supposed to remove the white film first, put it on our face before we remove the transparent film. But the transparent film on mine slipped off the mask before I can do so LOL. Also, I found some tears on my mask (hydrogel masks are very easily torn) upon opening the mask pack. I'm a little disappointed with this (that's the OCD side of me speaking) but since those little tears won't affect the ability of the mask, let's not be bothered by it.
DID NOT MENTION HOW LONG
I've been searching up and down for how long I should keep the mask on my skin but to no avail. The instructions at the back of the mask pack only says to remove it when the sheet gets thin because that's when the essence is fully absorbed into skin. After that, just pat the skin gently to aid absorption of the excess essence.

WHAT IS IT LIKE?
The mask smells just like every other charcoal mask I've used before. A sweet scent with a tinge of charcoal smell, I love it! It felt really slippery on my hand (that's how the transparent film slipped off before I could put it on my face haha) and I could barely hold it up for the camera. It is soaked in a clear yellow liquid that didn't feel tacky at all when I applied the excess on my legs. The moment I put on the mask, I could immediately feel the temperature of my skin going down a little. If only I can have it on my skin all day every day!
p.s. Skin temperature is one of the reasons we have acnes on our cheeks! 🌡
The fit is okay. It's really hard to position the mask once it's stuck on the skin because you can easily tear it so just try to be as precise as you can when putting on the mask.
IT STAYED ON WELL
Even though it was very slippery when I was holding it, it did not slip an inch while I was having it on my face. Instead, it stuck on extremely well considering that I was sitting up the whole time doing work on my laptop. The mask is able to block external air from getting into contact with our skin and this prevents moisture loss during the course of application. What's awesome about this mask is that its essence is released gradually according to the body temperature!
Removing after around 40 minutes.
WHAT DO I THINK?
Other than the fact that the mask was already torn, I like how the mask cooled down my skin and alleviated the redness on my skin. What's best about it is that it did not irritate my philtrum area (the most sensitive area of my whole face) like most masks did and is not sticky at all. I would highly recommend this to those who want a night mask that can help calm the skin before sleep. Also, according to what I read on Skincarisma, it should be able to cater for every skin type.
The before and after shocked me. I didn't expect the redness on my skin to subside so much. Neither did I expect the brightening effect to be so prominent. I think that's mainly due to the diamond powder in it. You'll see why!
THAT'S NOT IT
Don't immediately throw away the mask! According to the mask description, after using the sheet mask, you can dissolve it into hot water (around 80˚C will do). It is made of harmless natural gel which allows the hydrogel to melt nicely into a solution. You can then use the solution as body essence. I had some applied on the back of my left hand and now it looks like I've just came back from a glitter party LOL.
Putting it in a glass bowl.
Pour in some hot water of around 80˚C.
Watch it melt.
Melting...
Fully melted and the solution was still hot. So I waited a while before I started using it on my hand.
It goes on colourless.

After it had dried down, can you see the glitter? Those should be the diamond powder. It also left some black mark which can easily be washed off.
