It's never a good thing when the market is dominated by just one store. It means they can sell whatever they want at whatever price they desire, just because there is no one out there to fight and compete with them. So when I discover new online beauty stores that I feel are great and should be getting more attention from people like you and me, I just want to share about them! Today, let's learn about this new Malaysia online beauty store: Melmel.

When I first saw Melmel, I immediately fell in love with how beautiful it looks and how easy it is to navigate around. I had no trouble finding the brands I want and that to me is the most important thing. Being a fairly new online beauty store, I was surprised to see the brands they have to offer! One of which I certainly did not expect is Tarte. If only I discovered about Melmel earlier! I would've been able to grab the Tarte Limited Edition Lash Flash Eye Set and save all the trouble looking everywhere else (Sephora was out of stock haha)!

THERE IS A SIMILARITY
Like the other two online beauty stores which I think some of you may have heard about (or read about them here and here), it has buy 2 free shipping. I LOVE buy 2 free shipping. Instead of paying for delivery or accumulating (and waiting for) what I want to buy to reach the minimum purchase threshold, I can just choose any 2 products and place order. All I have to do is grab another product that's cheaper than the RM7 flat shipping fee and I'm good to go! I don't have to waste it on shipping and I get one extra product (which is almost always a mask haha). Sounds awesome to me! 😍
WHAT'S THAT 0/0 THING?
If you look closely, you may have notice that there is this little clock on the top right corner with a 0/0. That one, my friend, is the attendance system. Sound familiar? You get it right! If you visit the website and click on the attendance button 10 days in a row, you will get 200 points on the 10th day. You can then spend the points while making a purchase, which will help you save some cash. Just one click per day? I'm in.
Melmel also offers three membership tiers, which after comparison with its 'H' competitor, are certainly a good news to us beauty lovers!
THAT'S NOT ENOUGH
Yes, 200 points for 10 days is not enough. Because for every RM1 purchase you make, you will also be rewarded with 1 point on their website. And if you spend above certain threshold, you will be able to enjoy up to 5% discounts on all future orders (refer to Melmel's website for the membership tiers)! They also give 30 points to you for writing a review on Melmel and 50 for sharing your purchase on Facebook / Instagram. For the latter, all you need to do is use the hashtag #melmelmy, and 50 points will be on their way to you. I love stores that reward their customers!
They are currently giving RM18 vouchers to every new member. Do note that it is only valid for first purchase made within 15 days after signing up and requires a minimum spending of RM100.
LET'S GET SERIOUS
Although my mask stash is getting a little out of hand (a little over hundred and still counting), I still cannot resist the temptation especially when I see a website selling mask in bundle. Phew! Getting all the masks listed down and finding the ingredient lists are really some work, well, as long as it benefits you guys! However, I cannot find the ingredient lists / prices for the V Prove masks. I will try to get them (or maybe you can offer! Just leave a comment here and I'll forever be grateful!) and have them included.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUNDLE MASK
So, you can tell from the masks Melmel offers in the bundle mask option, that the price is totally worth it (up to mask no.10 the individual price is already RM102.96, and that's if you manage to get them individually since some are not available individually, which means, you will have to buy 5 or 10 of them at a higher price). So if I really want to recommend something from Melmel, this is the one!

So now, the main question is: Is Melmel legit and reliable? Or is it a scam? Will my purchase be safe? Because Melmel is quite new, I cannot find much about it online. So this time I just took a leap of faith. I was told that my products were shipped on 25 January 2017 and they reach me within a day! Like WHAAT! That's QUICK! And their office is located in Penang! I'm very very impressed. You all know how impatient I can get when it comes to my parcel haha so this is awesome!

Upon opening the box, I could see all my products are nicely wrapped with bubble wrap and they have little airbags both above and below the products to protect them. Can you see the My Scheming Milk Extract Brightening Mask and Papa Recipe Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask? I seriously can't wait to use it! Now, it's time for the authenticity check!

Just flip to the back of the box and you will find a holographic sticker. Scratch the bottom of the sticker and it will reveal a code. Open up the official website (everything is in Mandarin so I'll guide you step by step from here), and key in the code you see on the hologram like how I did here. Papa Recipe Product
This one is less troublesome. All you need is this app from Papa Recipe itself from the App Store or Google Play. Then, just scan the little tag on the mask pack itself and voila! You can easily find out whether the product is real or fake from the Holographic tag on the product.

To be safe, it's better we check using Papa Recipe's app. Your product is genuine if the code on the tag matches that in the app. Mine is again, genuine!
THESE ARE REAL & CHEAPER!
After checking those two, I can safely tell that the products I got from Melmel are real! Yay! So now I have another website to go to for the lower-than-retail price! You may wonder, how do they manage to keep the prices low? Well, I'm guessing since they do not incur as much overhead and management costs as those retail shops, Melmel is able to pass on those savings to us customers. They also claim their products to be 100% authentic and I feel quite secured with they 15-day no hassle return (you can't find this in retail)! Although, do take note that the products have to be unopened and refund is in terms of credit.

With so many online beauty stores now available in Malaysia, the one thing that helps me decide where to buy is always price. I'll go to wherever that sells the cheapest of all and click the add to cart button from there. But of course, authenticity is another important issue.
