We've seen a gold mask, a diamond mask and a blue mask. Now how about a collagen mask? I've never tried a collagen mask myself and I thought it'd be interesting for me to review one. Plus my skin has become really dry lately due to the Oratane which I've been taking under my dermatologist prescription to help with my raging acnes. So I thought why not do it now when I have the most suitable skin condition to start with?

SHORT AND PRECISE
This is honestly my first time seeing such a short ingredient list on a mask. The list is simple and straight forward and it seems to contain a lot of powerfully moisturising ingredients, which is a good sign. However, although there are a high number of good ingredients, they are accompanied by an equally high number of not so good ingredients (underlined). These underlined babies are identified by EWG as not so safe so do use with caution especially if you have a rather sensitive skin type.
To learn more about those ingredients in details, you can click on the ingredients and it will lead you to some previous posts of mine where I discussed them in details. You can also go straight to the Skincarisma by clicking on the link above the ingredient list to learn more.
The cotton sheet mask soaked in essence with collagen.
IT WAS TOO STRONG
Honestly, the smell of this one is too strong and mind you, the smell is not entirely a pleasant one. It smelled very artificial and it was still detectable when I had it on my face. I didn't like the smell. But fortunately, the smell did not stay on my face after I've had the mask removed at the 20th minute. I couldn't have it on longer for fear my skin might react adversely to the fragrance in it.
See the cotton material of the mask more up close. The mask is a little too long on the side.
HAVING IT ON
The mask is made of cotton (it looks cotton-ish) and is slightly rougher than most masks I've used. Not really a huge problem to me because as long as it gets the essence on and into my skin, I'm okay. When it was on my skin, I felt coolness and it was comfortable. I like how it calm my skin temperature and seemed to be sticking to my skin very well. It did not slip a bit during the whole 20 minutes.

Overall mask fit was okay but it was a little too short on the nose part. My angry pimples are out on display! 🏃🏻♀️
HOW TO USE COLLAGEN MASK
This one is just like any other masks. You only have to cleanse your face, put on some toner and you're ready to slap on the mask and rest. The recommended time of use it 20 to 30 minutes but like I said, I only kept it on for 20 minutes because I was afraid that my skin might react badly to the heavily fragranced mask. Also, the mask dried up pretty quickly as compared to others I've used as it did not come with much essence in the first place. So, do make sure to remove it before it starts sucking moisture off your skin.
Time to remove the mask!

Time to remove the mask!
UH OH!
There wasn't much essence left on my face after I've removed the mask. You can see from the picture that my face doesn't look like it's been soaked with essence. I didn't have to do much patting to push the essence. However, there was itchiness between my brows after I've used the mask for 20 minutes . So instead of keeping the mask essence on for the whole day, I washed it off.
DO COLLAGEN MASKS WORK?
DO COLLAGEN MASKS WORK?
Erm, not really. Look at my before-after picture below. What do you see? Nothing. I did not feel a surge in the moisture level, nor did I see my pores get temporarily hidden. Look at the extra line that the fold line of the mask gave to my face! Can't say I wasn't a little disappointed. Because looking at the ingredient list, I honestly thought it would give me a good moisture boost. But at least, it did not irritate my skin further other than the slight itchiness I mentioned earlier.
Can you spot any difference?
SHOULD YOU GET IT?
If I'm to be 100% and brutally honest, no. The price is tempting and the name is convincing but it didn't seem to work very effectively on my skin. I have combination skin and I thought it did not really moisturise the dry part of my face properly. Adding up the smell and the itchiness that it brought, this is not something I will recommend and I certainly do not think I will repurchase.
Can you see the edges of the mask? All the cotton fibres are sticking out LOL.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE A COLLAGEN FACE MASK?
If you really want to dive into using a collagen mask then maybe you can give this a try (the purchase links are below). I personally think this mask can be used on a weekly basis, since there is no such information printed on the back of the mask. You can also choose to only use a collagen face mask on days where your skin feels exceptionally dry. It all depends on your skin condition so it's always good to pay attention to it and react accordingly.
