GINSENG IN A BOTTLE
We've seen this little Ginseng Serum from I'm From but we have not seen a review here on a Ginseng Mask before. So today I decided to give this little Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask Pack from Papa Recipe a try. As you may have known from my previous post on this Collagen Mask, I'm currently taking Oratane and it has dried up my skin and hair (I can now go two days without washing my hair LOL) a little. I thought I should give my skin a drink so this sounds like a good one!

Bolded are the good/star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 4 & above under 'Safety index' in by EWG. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) are more likely to cause acne than those without.
The back of the mask, it has both Korean and English.
The Good Ones
There is 100ppm of Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil in this mask. This Evening Primrose Oil can prevent moisture loss from the skin by means of evaporation. That makes this Papa Recipe Mask a very suitable option for those of you here who have dry skin as it doesn't just moisturise, it tries to lock in the moisture to enhance the after-effect.
You can read more about the rest of the bolded ingredients by clicking on them. Once on the page, just search for the ingredient names and it will lead you straight to the relevant paragraphs that talk about the ingredients.
Zooming in on the Korean instructions and descriptions.
The Bad Ones
I was elated to see that this mask has only one ingredient that's flagged as 4 and above by EWG. As always, the 'honour' goes to Fragrance. If you're particularly sensitive to fragrance-containing beauty products, you might want to think twice about this mask.
Opening up the mask.
This is my first time trying a mask made with paper mulberry.
MADE WITH WHAT?
The mask is made with traditional Korean paper (Hanji) making process using paper mulberry. Paper mulberry is actually a species of flowering plant and is native to Asia, hence making the mask environmentally friendly and cellulose rich. It allows faster hydration than normal cotton sheet masks as it can hold a large amount of serum and be in much closer contact with the skin than sheet masks made with cotton. It is also hypoallergenic and non-irritating to the skin.
See the difference of this mask from other masks? Those 'lines' are cellulose.
HOW TO USE
Before using any mask, always cleanse your skin to make sure you're not also pushing it the dirt on your skin together with the mask essence. Put on a little toner and you're ready to tear the mask pack and put on the mask. Adjust the openings carefully and position the mask accordingly. Try your best to smooth out the fold lines as much as possible to avoid getting lines all over your face when you're done masking. Just leave it on for 20-30 minutes and rest.

The mask was soaked in plenty of nutritional essential oil which consists of Honey Extract and Red Ginseng Extract.
WAFTING THROUGH THE AIR
The smell hit me so hard I almost regretted a little when I opened up the mask. It smells something like a ginseng-infused herbal tea which is definitely not my favourite. When I had the mask on the smell was faint and it went on and off. I was genuinely surprised to find myself slowly getting used to the smell and managed to keep the mask on for 30 minutes despite the smell (I couldn't for this one), maybe because it smells kind of therapeutic.
The mask fit really well on my skin and I loved that the openings were just nice for my face.
ALONG THE WAY
I'm not sure if the area between my brows are getting a little more sensitive than it used be or what, it felt itchy again when I had this mask on. I was so tempted to scratch it even though I knew in the back of my mind I shouldn't. I kept checking the mirror to see if my skin turned red but, thank goodness, it didn't. The mask felt very cooling and hydrating on my skin I really didn't feel like pulling it off my skin.
A close up. See how thin the mask is?
ARE YOU READY?
It's the 30th minute and my mask no longer looked like it was drenched in essence. My skin looked deeply hydrated and was not oily at all. The mask stuck so well to my skin it was a little difficult for me to peel off the mask. I guess that's a good sign? The essence seemed to have been fully absorbed by my skin because I didn't have to pat. It felt just nice and wasn't sticky at all. It gave my skin a very nice glow and my pores seem to have hidden themselves temporarily. I could feel my skin tightened a little, that, I love!
Removing the mask, it was a little hard to peel off!
The much awaited before and after photo. Where are my pores??
SING THE PRAISES
If you want something that hydrates, this is one great one to go for. It may be a little pricey, but I've cheaper masks that do almost nothing. I like how it did not feel sticky on my skin and it's really rare for me to come across a non-sticky mask that properly hydrates. So I will definitely repurchase, well, maybe not now, maybe as soon as I spot it with a discount haha!I have over 100 masks in my stash that I need to clear (I seriously need to control the urge of buying)!

BEFORE I GO
Just want to share a little on how to verify whether your Papa Recipe products are real or fake. I've talked about it in details in this post here when I did a review on the Malaysian online beauty store, MelMel. Do take a look to learn how to check the authenticity of your Papa Recipe products before proceeding to putting it on your skin. Those fake products may give you adverse skin conditions so it's better to be safe than sorry.
This hologram you see here is for you to check whether the product is real or fake. All you have to do is download the Papa Recipe app and scan it.
Thank you for reading, see you in the next post!

Great review!
ReplyDeleteYou mention authenticating the masks... There's a Paparecipe S and Paparecipe Q mobile app. Do you know which one to use or do they both work depending what kind of qr code you have?
