|REVIEW| Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter: With Caffeine

Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter review

JUST A THOUGHT
Just finished watching Three Lives Three Worlds, The Pillow Book. It's been a long time since I watched a TV drama without skipping a single second and just wanted to watch another episode after another. When I was watching this heart-wrenching drama, there are a lot of random thoughts going through my head. One of them includes me questioning my choices. But anyhow, drama is drama, why not let me introduce you to an eye cream that I love putting on my eyes after all the crying?

The eye care duo.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

Betaine is a gentle hydrating ingredient that naturally occurs in skin and the body or could be plant-derived or synthetic, which can help balance our skin's hydration.

The reason that some of us have dark circles is due to enlarged blood vessels around the eyes when the eyes are strained. This can be caused by staring at the TV or computer screen for too long. This is where Caffeine will be useful as it has the power to constrict blood vessels. Besides, it can also reduce puffiness and inflammation. Some people have also find it effective in tightening and brightening the skin, reducing wrinkles and visibly smoothing away body cellulite.

Artemisia Princeps is a type of Japanese mugwort (known as yomogi in Japanese). Mugwort is very popular for its antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Its leaf extracts can soothe, heal and nourish the skin, reduce redness and alleviate psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and other irritations. Not just that, being loaded with antioxidants and vitamin E allows it to protect the skin barrier as well.

Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is a rich source of epigallocatechin gallate, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants available. Moreover, Green Tea Extract is a good anti-inflammatory agent. It can help reduce skin inflammation (go away acnes!) and inhibit the action of collagenase (an enzyme that breaks down collagen).

Sodium Hyaluronate is a powerful moisturiser. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin around the eye area!

It is vegan friendly and cruelty-free. You can find all the necessary info on the box.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
If you have oily skin, Stearic Acid can potentially clog pores as it has a comedogenic rating of 2 according to CosDNA. The comedogenic rating ranks from 0 to 5 with 0 being the lowest probability and 5 being the highest probability.

BUTTER ON EYES?
Containing quad peptide blends, this Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter glides on the skin smoothly. Being a cream type moisturiser, it has the texture of a butter and is light yellow in colour. It also melts into my skin nicely without leaving the skin around my eyes overly oily or sticky. The best thing about it is that it has no smell at all, amazing for those of you who love your skincare products scentless.

HOW TO USE
Squeezing out a tiny bit on my ring finger, I will spread half of the eye butter I squeezed out to my another ring finger, before I light pat it on both of my eyes. If you remember in last post on the Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel, always use the ring (i.e. fourth) finger to apply products on the eyes because it is the weakest. Read the review here if you want to know more. Although this is very lightweight too, I tend to use this at night more especially when I sleep in air-conditioned room because it is more moisturising.

It dries down to a comfortable layer of protection for the eye skin and is very moisturising.

USE THEM TOGETHER
Of course, you can also use both the Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel and Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter together. Known as the eye care duo, using them together allows us to wake up fatigued eyes (eye gel) and nourish the eyes extra moisture (eye butter), sounds like killing two birds with one stone to me! Otherwise, you can use the awakening gel in the morning and eye butter at night. I would sometimes use them together when I feel my eye areas are extra dry and need extra help.

My under-eye concealer would stick nicely the whole day without budging with the eye cream under.

IN A NUTSHELL
I haven't used an eye cream in a while. This eye butter together with the eye gel has made me fall in love with eye cream again. Ever since I started using the eye care duo, the fine lines under my eyes are not so visible because my eye skin is now properly moisturised. The most important thing about eye cream is that it moisturises well, doesn't irritate the eye area and doesn't cause under-eye concealer to budge. This eye butter has achieved all. Besides, a little goes a long way, I would think this is a huge bang for your buck, give it a try!

Fine lines around my eyes have become much less visible!
