WHAT TO DO
I am feeling a little lost now, not knowing what I should do, that's the worst feeling ever, isn't it? Anyhow, rants aside, I can't wait for MCO to be over. Been stuck in the house for 38 days now, I need to go somewhere, anywhere! The only thing keeping me occupied and sane now is me forcing myself to stick to a routine that makes me feel good. Wake up early, do my skincare, work, eat, exercise, write, play sudoku and sleep early. Now, what about a review on an exfoliating cream?

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil is an amazing anti-inflammatory ingredient. It can help reduce redness caused by drying and alleviate the uncomfortable feeling brought upon by eczema and rosacea by keeping our skin calm and comfortable. Its ability to do so is contributed by the Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins that it contains. These vitamins are able to aid in skin repair and damage control, hence great for people with dry and chapping skin.
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.
Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil offers protection against environmental factors and can help brighten the skin as it contains high level of antioxidants. Not just that, it also has omega acids that can help firm and nourish the skin and dozens of naturally-occurring chemical compounds that aid in skin repair and rejuvenation, cellular turnover, detoxification and evening of skin tone.
Butylene Glycol is a powerful moisturiser. Hence this seems to be okay for those who have dry skin to use.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.
Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract is good for fighting acne, skin brightening and calming the skin. It can also diminish the appearance of under-eye dark circles, discolouration and even age spots as well as acting as a powerful antioxidant to protect the skin from environmental stressors and balance oil.
The cream is white in colour.
NAH, THE BAD ONES
The underlined ingredients in the list above are all fragrances which give the Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream a really strong soapy, but not really unpleasant, smell. So far I have not had any problems from using the buffing cream so if you are not particularly picky about the smell of your products, you are clear to go!

Can you see those little white dots? Those are the microbeads.
SANDPAPER?
It is a white cream and within the cream are these microbeads made of jojoba oil. It can be a little difficult to spread on the skin because of its texture, so I will normally put a few dots on my skin first before I use water to spread it out. Despite the microbeads, this buffing cream by Caudalie is quite gentle on the skin if used with care. It also has a strong floral smell that some of you may not like (thanks to the many fragrance we saw in its ingredient list above).
After spreading it out.
HOW TO USE
Like I mentioned above, I would first dot it on my forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. Then I would wet my hands and start using only my fingers to spread the cream on my skin. This is mainly to avoid accidentally hurting my skin if I just spread it without water and to prevent wasting the cream by using my whole hand to do the spreading. Once done, I will wash it away with lukewarm water. Do make sure to wash your skin thoroughly to prevent leaving behind any microbeads that may cause congestions (speaking from personal experience here LOL).
Dotting it on my face before I go in with water.
USING WITH CLEANSER
When I bought it from the Caudalie counter, the salesperson had recommended me to pair it with a milk cleanser if I find it too harsh on the skin. Therefore, I would also sometimes use it in conjunction with my Fresh Soy Face Cleansing Milk to tone down the abrasiveness when my skin is a little sensitive. You can do the same too! Also, you should always do patch test before putting it all over your skin to see if your skin if okay with the Gentle Buffing Cream.
Massaging it.
WHAT DO I SAY
I am okay with the scent and I think it is gentle enough, but I still prefer a chemical exfoliant over physical exfoliant. I don't really enjoy the sandpaper feeling when I massage the cream on my skin. Washing it off is a bit troublesome too because sometimes the microbeads (very small size) can get stuck on my skin and cause me more skin issues later. I would always have to wash a few times and use cotton pads to make sure I got all of them off. Chemical exfoliants won't have such problems.
It leaves my skin fresh and still well moisturised. Not drying and no tight feeling at all.
ALL IN ALL
All in all, I am not a big fan of this buffing cream. But, the good thing about this buffing cream is that it contains vitamin E and jojoba oil. My skin would not feel tight or uncomfortable after use. It is very suitable for those who cannot tolerate chemical exfoliant. So if you are not a chemical exfoliant fan and are not worried of strong scent, then this Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream might be the one for you! Give it a try then!
