IT IS SO HARD
My skin is incredibly picky it is very difficult for me to find a cleanser that works and at the same time does not dry out my skin. I know for sure that cleansing foams and cleansing gels do not work because they are too drying. I hate the tight feeling that follows every time after using those types of cleansers. So I went into Sephora after reading tonnes of reviews on Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, wanting to grab a tube and try it out.
But wait, isn't this a review for the Soy Face Cleansing Milk? So what happened there?

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.
Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil has strong regenerative properties (good for mature skin!) and has the ability to regulate cornification (definition: the process by which squamous epithelial cells in vertebrate animals develop into tough protective layers or structures such as hair, hooves, and the outer layer of skin) disorders and is ideal for both oily and dry skin. This oil is very rich and moisturising, but absorbs quickly and does not linger on the skin. That I agree because this Fresh Cleansing Milk feels super comfortable on the skin and is not oily at all.
Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract is great for boosting the skin's moisture and soothing the skin.
Rosa Damascena is a very fragrant pink rose. Its water and oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Water and Oil can deeply hydrate our skin and soothe irritations as its petals contain skin-soothing and antioxidant compounds. Not just that, inhaling its scent can help our mind relax.
Not only does this help with age spots, this Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract can encourage an all round fresher, younger, smoother looking complexion. There are plenty of natural acids present in Hibiscus which can help to purify the skin as it breaks down dead skin and increases cell turnover. These acids can also help to control acne breakouts.
Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.
It comes with a pump design.
NAH, THE BAD ONES
Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil has a comedogenic rating of 3 as it can potentially block pores and cause breakout. But I have no issue with it so far!
Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do be cautious with this!
PATCH TESTING
I strongly encourage you to patch test before applying it all over your face. Just swab a small amount of the product on your wrist or behind your ear and wait around 1 day to see how your skin reacts. If your skin experiences any burning effect or has any irritation that is not supposed to accompany the product, wash it off immediately and seek medical attention if the irritation doesn’t go away after washing.
I have used up more than half of the Soy Face Cleansing Milk.
SO WHAT HAPPENED?
I already grabbed a tube of the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and was ready to pay. But I stole one more glance at the Fresh catalogue and the word "Milk" caught my eyes. I turned back and stooped down to find that there is actually a Cleansing Milk in the Fresh Soy series. To my excitement, I found that it retails at the same price as the Cleanser (150ML only) and has 200ML, that's 50ML more! The mini frugal me is literally doing a backflip inside. Without hesitation, I swapped my tube for a bottle and went to the cashier.
Let's test it out, shall we? That is how much half a pump gives.
HOW TO USE
I only use it as the last cleanser in my routine. Despite what Fresh says, I personally think it is not meant for heavy/waterproof makeup. However, it is awesome at taking off the remaining makeup residue, leaving the skin feeling refreshed but not overly stripped of moisture. So all you need to do is after your first cleanser (a makeup remover or cleansing oil), with your face wet, take a single pump and massage it gently on your skin in circular motion. After that, just wash it off with water will do!

After washing off with water (left picture) the waterproof eyeliner and mascara as well as the matte liquid lipstick are still clearly visible.
HOW DOES IT FEEL
One word: Amazing. My skin feels clean (disclaimer: I am never a fan of the "squeaky clean" feeling and this does not give such feeling), cool and still moisturised. It does not feel tight nor does it feel oily. If you are not a soy smell fan (I feel you there haha), you are totally fine because I personally find the scent okay! I don't know why but it smells like a sweet watermelon sorbet ice cream to me. The cleansing milk also feels super smooth on the skin which is great for massaging too.
SHOULD YOU GET IT?
Just my honest two cents, yes. This is my holy grail second/third cleanser. I like how it doesn't break me out or make my skin feel tight. I also love that it smells amazing and feels super smooth on the skin. I always use it with my Foreo Luna 2 and they are a wonderful combination in keeping my skin clean and breakout-free. I know, the price is really expensive, so if you have any other better cleansing milk recommendation that you want to share with me, leave a comment below so I can check it out. 😘
