SKIN, DO ME A FAVOUR
There are days where my skin just cannot be nice to me. It acts up and becomes itchy and red. So often I don't know what to do other than just put on my regular skincare products and go to bed, wishing that all the redness would go away before the morning comes. Yet, wishes don't always come true. Sleeping in air-conditioned room doesn't help either. So I searched up and down for a solution and I stumbled upon the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream.

p.s. Klairs is a cruelty-free Korean beauty brand, learn more about Klairs here.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Butylene GlycolSodium Hyaluronate and Morus Alba Bark Extract are all powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin! Besides being able to moisturise the skin, Morus Alba Bark Extract can help brighten up the skin too!

Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Centella Asiatica Extract is known for its skin-calming properties. Mainly found in shady and damp areas in many different parts of the world, Centella (a.k.a. tiger grass because wounded tigers were often seen rolling in it to heal their wounds) is a small plant that grows up to around six inches in height. Also called the “miracle elixirs of life”, researchers have found that Centella Asiatica Extract facilitates the healing of cuts and burns as it can promote collagen production and inhibit inflammation which results in scarring.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil makes this super moisturising on the skin, which means it should be great on people with dry skin type.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil is an amazing anti-inflammatory ingredient. It can help reduce redness caused by drying and alleviate the uncomfortable feeling brought upon by eczema and rosacea by keeping our skin calm and comfortable. Its ability to do so is contributed by the Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins that it contains. These vitamins are able to aid in skin repair and damage control, hence great for people with dry and chapping skin.

Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract is commonly used to soothe inflammation on the skin and can help calm skin that is easily sensitised. It also has antioxidant protection and some even claim it has the ability to inhibit bacteria growth! Sounds like a wonderful ingredient for an anti-inflammatory product!

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Ceramide makes this super moisturising on the skin, which means it should be great on people with dry skin type.

Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) is a major lipid-soluble antioxidant in the skin. It protects the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.

The blue colour of this product comes from Guaiazulene. This is a dark blue crystalline hydrocarbon sourced from Chamomile and is effective in calming and cooling down heated skin. This is why this Midnight Blue Calming Cream is able to provide intensive soothing care for the skin!
p.s. All Klairs blue products contain this!

The tube design of this 60ml packaging is hygienic and convenient. I personally prefer this over scooping out of the 30ml version (tub packaging).

NAH, THE BAD ONES
If you have oily skin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter and Stearic Acid can potentially clog pores as they have comedogenic rating of 3.

MIND-CALMING SMELL
My friends always comment that I am very "pattern". This is a slang in Malaysia where it means a few things. But mainly it means that a person has no fixed style of doing certain things. For example, I don't like my skincare products fragranced. But if the smell is mind-calming (like this Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream) and that it is from a natural ingredient (e.g. no added fragrance), then I am happy with the smell. Get it? No? See this reddit post to understand it fully haha.

This is from my sample kit. Let's just take a second to appreciate how beautiful it is!

ALL THAT TEXTURE
It is blue and although it is a cream it melts into the skin the moment it's spread out. I like how quickly it absorbs into my skin, leaving my skin smooth and what's best is it doesn't feel sticky at all. It minimises the appearance of my pores as my skin drinks it up and even though my skin looks a little shiny after application (see pictures below), it doesn't feel oily to touch. Instead, my skin feels soft and matte while looking hydrated. The cream is very lightweight too.

HOW TO USE
Like its name, this is a calming cream. It is best used to soothe sunburn, after-shave irritations and redness. For me, this is my perfect after-facial relieving cream. My skin can get really sensitive after a facial or sometimes after I remove my makeup at the end of the day. To deal with those red patches that I just cannot seem to avoid getting, I will take a pinch of the Midnight Blue Calming Cream and gently dab it onto the affected areas. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Works like a charm every time!

The left side of my skin is a little irritated. This is how much I use for just a small patch of redness.

MORE ABOUT IT
This cream, although looks as if it has a lot of moisturising ingredient, is not recommended to be used as a moisturiser for those who have dry skin. It is better to be used as a top-up after you have applied your favourite moisturiser. In fact, I think you can even mix it with your moisturiser and pat them both in together in one shot to save time! P.S. I personally find it calms my skin faster and much better than the COSRX Centella Blemish Cream.

WAIT NO MORE, PEEPS
If your skin has the tendency to get red patches either due to irritations or after facial, this is seriously your must-have skincare product. I have been using this to quickly calm down the redness on my skin every time after I remove my makeup and it has never failed to impress me. Yes, the price could be a little expensive but 60ml (it is just USD6.50 more expensive than the 30ml one, grab this one please haha) can last you forever because you don't really need a lot for one application. 💁🏻‍♀️

If you're not convinced yet, here's a before-after to get you on board haha. Did you notice that my pores are also smaller (although still quite visible haha)? Hence why you still need a moisturiser before the Calming Cream if your skin is on the drier end.

I even used it on my wrist when I had a minor allergy from wearing my watch.
