|REVIEW| Zephyrine Starter Pack: After Using It for One Month

FULFILLING MY PROMISE!
If you read my review on Zephyrine's Placenta Extract Repairing Mask, you probably remember I promised to come back in November to give you guys an after-1-month review on both the toner and the cream. So it's time for me to show you some closeups and before-after from using the whole starter pack for 1 month. p.s. Can't believe how time flies past so quickly and my final exams are in this week! I hope I am well prepared for a pass haha! Pray for me? 😂

From left to right: #4 White Truffle Repairing Cream (50ML for RM270), #1 Rose Essence Treatment Lotion (150ML for RM190) and #6 Placenta Extract Repairing Mask (3 pcs/26ML for RM90)

THREE IN ONE
In this Zephyrine Classic Starter Pack, you get five items for just RM270. And what are they?

#1 Rose Essence Treatment Lotion - x1 (150ML for RM190)
#4 White Truffle Repairing Cream - x1 (50ML for RM270)
#6 Placenta Extract Repairing Mask - x3 (3 pcs/26ML for RM90)

That's a saving of RM280 itself and you get to try out three different products hehe. Since I have already given a thorough review on the mask, today I will be focusing on the other two members, i.e. the Treatment Lotion and the Repairing Cream.

ROSE ESSENCE TREATMENT LOTION
#1 Rose Essence Treatment Lotion (150ML for RM133)

ROSE INFUSED??! Having 150ml, this watery toner infused with Bulgarian Ruby-Damascus Rose hydrosol aims to replenish skin moisture and soothe sensitive skin. It also contains Pearl Extraction from Uwajima, which gives it the ability to brighten our skin skin from inside out, thereby reducing the appearance of pigmented spots.

Note:
Hydrosol is basically the aromatic water that remains after steam-distilling or hydro-distilling botanical material (it is the Bulgarian Ruby-Damascus Rose in this case). It is also referred to as hydrolat, distillate water or floral water.

Always love it when they use frosted glass design haha. This one is actually glass so make sure you don't drop it!

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Citric Acid is an anti-ageing ingredient. It is a kind of AHA so it can also act as a pH buffer i.e. to help adjust our skin's acidity. Not just that, it also promotes skin peeling (exfoliation) and re-growth which is why it is frequently used in anti-aging products.

We all know Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, i.e. Aloe Vera is very famous for its hydrating properties. Containing Auxin and Gibberellins, Aloe Vera is a pro in promoting wound healing (it treats minor burn like a queen). It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help bring down skin inflammation, which is why it has been very used as an ingredient in acne products.

Butylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol are both powerful moisturisers whereas Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

Ingredient list is on the box.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES (contd.)
Trehalose is a sugar found in plants, fungi and invertebrate animals, normally used in beauty products as a flavouring agent and moisturiser. It has antioxidant powers and can help retain the skin's moisture that it would otherwise lose. Sounds awesome for dry skin people and those who want to reduce ageing signs!

Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.

Niacinamide is a vitamin B3 derivatives best known for its skin brightening properties. It can reduce pigmentation as it prevents melanin from migrating to the epidermis. With this, this product is able to help bring out the glow and give the dull skin a good makeover.  Not just that, it is also good as an anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing ingredient (read this article if you want to know more)! What's best about it is that it helps stabilise vitamin C and shows enhanced effects when used with vitamin C.

Hydrolysed Pearl is good at moisturising the skin and also has the power in lightening acne and scars.

The boxes are also numbered based on the sequence to use them.

NAH, THE BAD ONES
I was a bit surprised to learn that this contains Sodium Methylparaben (you can read this article here about paraben if you're wondering why it has been highlighted here) but I'm okay with it since the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) concluded that parabens at the low levels found in personal care products are not a concern. I've been relying on CIR for all of my cosmetic product reviews and I find them quite reliable, so I feel okay to let this one go.

Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do skip this!

Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate is a preservative to prevent the product from going bad.

I still have this much left after one month, a little goes a long way I guess?

PLEASE PATCH TEST
I strongly encourage you to patch test before applying it all over your face. Just swab a small amount of the product on your wrist or behind your ear and wait around 1 day to see how your skin reacts. If your skin experiences any burning effect or has any irritation that is not supposed to accompany the product, wash it off immediately and seek medical attention if the irritation doesn’t go away after washing.

HOW I USE THE TONER
Loving how thin its consistency is, I would always pour a 2cm diameter on my palm, lightly clap my hands and pat it into my skin. Because of how light it is, I use it both in the morning and at night. It has a light relaxing rose scent, which I am a big fan of. Every time after using the toner, I would follow up with an thicker essence before I move on to putting on the White Truffle Repairing Cream.

HERE ARE MY RESULTS
Pores are definitely much less visible and look! One of the red spots is totally gone now!

WHITE TRUFFLE REPAIRING CREAM
#4 White Truffle Repairing Cream (50ML for RM189)

p.s. I actually accidentally dropped this one on the floor before but thank goodness it didn't break!

OMG WHITE TRUFFLE!
Having 50ml, the White Truffle Extraction in this repairing cream focuses on skin self-repairing and long-lasting skin moisturisation. It also contains Yeast Extraction (Pitera), which can activate skin cells, improve skin firmness and elasticity and relieve skin irritation. The Wheat Protein within has the ability to brighten as well as protect our skin from the harsh UV r

Don't want to be long winded, so those of which I have explained above, I will skip them below haha. They do have quite some ingredients in common!

You can also find the ingredient list on the box itself.

YAS THE GOOD ONES
Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract is the ground kernel of oats which has a high concentration of Vitamin E. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, moisturising and soothing properties on the skin. Hence it can used to protect injured or exposed skin from harmful or annoying stimuli and may therefore provide relief to the skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate is a powerful moisturiser. Hence this could also potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!

Tocopherol and Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamin E) are major lipid-soluble antioxidants in the skin. They protect the skin against peroxide and pro-oxidants and can prevent oxidation in cosmetics. If Vitamin E levels are insufficient, harmful foreign substances can easily invade as our skin's protective function will be weakened. This can cause our skin to age faster. Hence, by ensuring our skin gets the vitamin E it needs, we can slow down cell ageing by reducing lipid peroxidation. Vitamin E can also help soften our skin and soothe inflammation as well as protect our skin against sun damage. Now that I recall, my orthopaedic surgeon has actually prescribed me a vitamin E cream for the scars on my knee after my knee surgery.

On my hand.

HOW I USED THE CREAM
This one smells heavenly. It is also incredibly light and thin in consistency despite being a cream. I used to just dig out a pea size and dot it on my face (like picture above). However, recently I have started to put it on my palm then warm it with my hands a little before I pat it on my skin. I find my skin absorbing the cream much better compared to just dotting it. Also, never ever forget your neck when applying a moisturiser!

HERE ARE MY RESULTS
Pretty amazing isn't it?! The pores are so much less visible now!

OVERALL THOUGHTS
It's my skin's "acne season" now but everything is still looking great so far. I'm happy! I do still occasionally get skin bumps here and there after being outside for too long but once I remove my makeup and pat the toner on, the bumps would subside just overnight. Also, I just love how glowy my skin looks every time I wake up in the morning having put on the cream the night before. It's AAAAH-MAZING!
