ENDING THE WAIT
It's been a long time! Now I'm back in school (again 😩) and preparing to sit for two of the last three papers that I have left in my ICAEW journey. I've been focusing on the other aspects of my life and giving more time to people whom I care a lot. I'm really glad I decided to take a break but now I think I should start paying some attention to my hobby before it dies down completely. So, here I am today and I just couldn't wait to share this super thin sheet mask that I discovered a few weeks ago. From left to right: #4 White Truffle Repairing Cream (50ML for RM189), #1 Rose Essence Treatment Lotion (150ML for RM133) and #6 Placenta Extract Repairing Mask (3 pcs/26ML for RM63)
**These three come in a starter pack that costs RM270, much cheaper than if you buy them individually!**
A BRAND CALLED ZEPHYRINE
Not sure if you have heard of this brand before I've always thought that any name that starts with Z sounds very classy and upscale haha. Zephyrine is a fairly new Taiwanese skincare brand that emerges in 2011. It has five series of products including classic sensitive, whitening, anti-aging, moisturizing, and cleanser. The mask that I'm about to introduce today comes from the classic sensitive category. Let's first take a look at the ingredient list, shall we?
The directions and ingredient list are found both on the mask itself and the box.
INGREDIENT LIST
(Skincarisma)

Note: This is a cruelty free and free of paraben, sulphate, alcohol, silicone and EU allergen.
YAS, THE GOOD ONES
Trehalose is a sugar found in plants, fungi and invertebrate animals, normally used in beauty products as a flavoring agent and moisturiser. It has antioxidant powers and can help retain the skin's moisture that it would otherwise lose. Sounds awesome for dry skin people and those who want to reduce ageing signs!
YAS, THE GOOD ONES (cont'd)
Sodium Hyaluronate and Butylene Glycol and are both powerful moisturisers. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin!
Glycerin can help keep the skin hydrated and keep the overactive oil glands under control.
Propylene Glycol is very moisturising especially for dry skin peeps. The most important thing that I always take note of for a cleanser is that it cannot dry out my skin. The tightening feel that accompanies every wash of my skin is unbearable. But with this, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol and Glycerin, it sounds like I'm not going to get the uncomfortable feeling? Read on to find out!

Then, we have Allantoin. An ingredient that aims to improve dry and rough skin as it provides our skin with intensive moisture. Being a skin conditioner, it is also known for its ability to soothe irritated skin and protect our skin from external irritants and dirt.
Hydrolysed Pearl is good at moisturising the skin and also has the power in lightening acne and scars.
Placental protein is essential in skin renewal process. With its presence, the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid can be activated to start the skin regeneration process. Hence it is often used in whitening and anti-ageing products as it can help whiten the skin and give it a glow that makes it look more youthful.
YAS, THE GOOD ONES (cont'd)
Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract is the ground kernel of oats which has a high concentration of Vitamin E. It is known for its anti-inflammatory, moisturising and soothing properties on the skin. Hence it can used to protect injured or exposed skin from harmful or annoying stimuli and may therefore provide relief to the skin. According to Zephyrine, it can also help in skin repair and regenerate, thereby improving skin elasticity and firmness.
Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract is great for boosting the skin's moisture.
Placental protein is essential in skin renewal process. It is used by our body to catalyse the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid to kickstart the skin regeneration process. Hence it is often used in whitening and anti-ageing products as it can help whiten the skin and give it a glow that makes it look more youthful. It can also help maintain skin hydration (moisture retention) and elasticity and reduce melanin and spots.
Just to confuse you further haha. Just kidding. Trust me, you'll know why soon!
NAH, THE BAD ONES
Phenoxyethanol can potentially cause skin and lung irritation so if you know that your skin has not dealt well with Phenoxyethanol in the past, do skip this!
Triethanolamine has a comedogenic rating of two, so it could potentially cause acne but I haven't had any issue with it so far after using it for two weeks now although my skin has become slightly sensitive due to hormonal changes.
Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate is a preservative to prevent the product from going bad.
p.s. Concentration of an ingredient is normally indicated by its position in the ingredient list. More highly positioned equals to more highly concentrated.
That's because I'm using them to prep my skin before the real deal!
SOUNDS MOISTURISING!
Just by looking at the ingredient list, I have the idea that this mask is going to be super moisturising and has the ability to give me the temporary glow that I have always liked! But before I go ahead and test it out, I think it's only fair that I prep my skin first to get it ready to absorb the goodness from the mask. I decided to use the #1 Rose Essence Treatment Lotion (toner) and the #4 White Truffle Repairing Cream that come in the Starter Pack.
The cream, it comes with a protectant lid ⇣
The glass pot just makes it look soooooo luxurious.
THE NUMBER IN FRONT
If you're wondering, yes, the numbers in front indicate the order to use the products. You always put on a toner before you start applying any of the skincare products, hence the #1. As much as I'd like to, I'm not going into details about the treatment lotion and the repairing cream because I don't feel ready to review them. I'll come back to them one month later (most likely in November haha) and give you a close-up on those two. In the mean time, let's focus on the mask.
First step, I tone my skin with the treatment lotion and pat it in.
Then I went on to put on the repairing cream and again, pat it in.
IT'S ALL READY
After my skin has fully absorbed the treatment lotion and the repairing cream, I went ahead and put on the mask. The mask itself is flanked by two sheets of protectant films, one being pearl while the other is just blue. For fear that I'd tear the mask, I carefully pulled off the pearl film and put on the mask before I peeled off the blue film. The mask has the smallest slits I've ever seen and I'm not complaining at all! I love masks that cover even my lips!

It's time to tear open the mask pack and put it on!
The films that I've been talking about. Pearl on the left and the other speaks for itself.
I peeled off the blue film when the mask is on my skin.
First time having a mask that manages to cover my large forehead, I'm a happy kid! The chin part is a bit long so I just wrapped it around my chin to give a slight lifting effect.
After 15 to 20 minutes, the mask has dried up. According to Zephyrine's instructions, we are supposed to peel it off from the chin.
Gently press the face with both hands / palms to assist the absorption of the remaining essence. I personally like to pat my skin a little.
The most significant difference I see here is the reduced appearance of my pores. That's why I always say moisturising the skin is the most important step which all of us should start doing as early as we can!
FINAL VERDICT
Honestly, I've tried a lot of mask and this one is one of those few that I'd actually recommend. Despite the fragrance in it, I couldn't detect any smell at all when the mask was on my face. I also like the fact that it is super thin and that it adhered to my skin like a second skin as it wrapped around every angle of my face perfectly and even covered my forehead, which most masks failed to. It worked wonderfully in moisturising my skin and I simply enjoy having this as a quick pick-me-up whenever my skin needs some intense hydrating!
I'm also very drawn to the fact that it does not come with an excessive amount of solution which I always don't know what to do with and feel very wasteful to throw away.
