Purito Centella Green Level All In One Mild Pad review

BURRITO PURITO
I have to admit, that's the first thing I thought of when I first learnt about Purito. But let me assure you, that's definitely not how the brand name came about haha! The name came from two different words, namely, "Purify" and "Soil". It's easy to get the "Purify" to Puri- part, but "Soil" to -to? Well, it's actually taken directly from the Chinese character "土", which is pronounced as "to" and it means soil in Mandarin. Now, why soil?
HERE'S WHY
Purito is all about safe and natural ingredients. It wants all its users to feel safe using its products and have faith in them. The Chinese character "土" can also mean Mother Earth, which I personally think implies that all of Purito's ingredients are natural and can be readily sourced from the Mother Earth. That's why you will never see fragrance in the ingredient list because that will seriously displace its products from the "Green Level" claims it makes.

p.s. Green Level here indicates that all ingredients in this Purito Centella Mild Pads are rated green by Environmental Working Group (EWG). That does not mean the brand is EWG certified.

Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisk (*) (none here) are more likely to cause acne than those without.

YAS, THE GOOD ONES
You can read more about the bolded ingredients by clicking on them. Once on the page, just search for the ingredient names and it will lead you straight to the relevant paragraphs that talk about the ingredients.

If you have been following me for a while now, you know how much I love Centella Asiatica Extract (uh oh I think I've been repeating this every time I come across a product that contains Centella HAHA). The Centella game doesn't stop there. It also contains a small amount of Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid (these are Centella too). Asiaticoside is here to balance water and oil and it can further assist the formation of collagen in the dermal layer. Asiatic Acid is able to strengthen skin barrier and calm sensitive skin. It is also known to be an anti-oxidant whereas Madecassic Acid can help to repair damaged and tired skin other than reducing the appearance of post-acne marks.

Acne-Fighting: Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Betaine Salicylate & Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil
Brightening: Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract
Promotes Wound Healing: Panthenol & Centella Asiatica Extract

NAH, THE BAD ONES
Like this By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum, I've noted no bad ingredient in this All in One Mild Pad! Purito is serious about making sure their products do not irritate our skin and they even went to the extent of putting this through a skin irritation test to ensure that. But if you know me, I'd always recommend a patch test before you put anything to your whole face.

CAN'T HELP IT
I believe many of you here may have read my review on the COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad before learning more on this one. I can't help but wanting to compare this to that of COSRX because they look so alike! However, from my experiences with both of them at different times, there is nothing alike in these two from their ingredient lists to their performances. We shall find out soon why I said that!

It comes with a protectant lid which I had kept on to prevent moisture loss.

NO. 1 SUPERFICIAL: PACKAGING
Okay, Purito totally wins in the sturdy category but loses a little on the cuteness side. Not something that I'd put a lot of emphasis on when I buy a product but the Purito Mild Pad container does look a little less fascinating on camera. Still, not something very important haha. Its box is made out of cardboard (as shown in pictures above) but it has a very natural feel to it that matches nicely with the brand's philosophy.  Size wise, the tub is taller compared to COSRX but smaller in diameter.

Inside has 70 pads.

NO. 2 MOVING DOWN: HYGIENIC PRACTICE
Well, Purito wins this one without having to say much because it has packed in a little tweezer for our convenience. Instead of having to use our fingers to pick up the pads, we can use the tweezer. This minimises the chance of us contaminating the rest of the pads and reducing their efficacy before we get to use them. Sadly, this is not seen with the COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad.

I only use tweezer to pick up the pads.

NO. 3 IN-DEPTH: INGREDIENTS
Now this draws a clear line between the two look-alike. Although both have Betaine Salicylic (i.e. BHA), Purito goes the extra mile to include Centella Asiatica Extract (as explained above). I must say, this puts a big gap between the two because while the COSRX pads maintain my skin condition, the Purito pads IMPROVE it, all thanks to the Centella Asiatica Extract (wait till I show you the before-after picture haha).

p.s. You can find the ingredient list for the COSRX pads here.

NO. 4 USING: SMELL & FEEL
From what I can remember, the COSRX one has a little orangey smell to it. This one doesn't. Its smell is fainter and doesn't hit the nose as hard. Moving on to the feel, the pads of both this and the COSRX one are embossed on one side and smooth on the other. This allows them to also be used as a physical exfoliator. However, they feel very differently when I rub the pads against my skin. The Purito pads feel significantly gentler on the skin. This is probably where the 'Mild' in the name comes in!

This is how one piece of the pad looks like.

NO. 5 ALSO LAST: RESULTS
With the Purito one, I actually managed to document my skin changes in pictures. If you remember from a few posts ago, my skin was in a really bad condition and I even started taking Oratane under the prescription of my doctor to help with my deteriorating skin condition. Taking Oratane certainly helps in reducing the oil secretion. I now can go three days without washing my hair and it won't feel or look greasy at all (ewww, gross!) and I don't need blotting paper for my nose anymore.

Look, my skin is pumped with moisture and it has that glass-skin glow!

NOT DONE WITH RESULTS
However, Oratane can only do that much. It dries out my skin and I need something to put back the moisture. Here's where Purito comes in (Gosh, I feel like I'm writing an advert HAHA). The All in One Mild Pad does a great job in restoring the moisture to my skin as a toner. Not just that, it always manages to rub off some yellow stuff that is still remaining on my skin even after me cleansing with the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil and Bioderma Sensibio H2O. That is not always the case with COSRX. Besides, it also seems to give a glow to my skin that the COSRX never gave.

This is how it looks when cut in half. That is enough for my whole face and even neck.

 HOW TO HAVE MORE USES
It's simple. Cut them all into halves and you can double up the usage from 70 to 140! Also, I only use them at night because I don't think my skin needs any exfoliation or intense cleansing in the morning. This again allows this to last a lot more longer and results in a less frequent repurchase. Now this can at least last me 3 more months before I have to get myself another tub (I've used mine for two weeks plus now)!

The yellow dirt I was talking about. Eww!

See the transformation.

LET ME CLARIFY
Note that I'm taking Oratane and also using the whole Centella Line  so the transformation is not solely due to the pads. I do believe, however, that my recovery process would have been much slower had I not been using the Purito pads for the past two weeks. It helps in exfoliating my skin and rolling off the dead cells to let my new skin surface quicker. This has in turn allowed better and speedier cell renewal which is important in fading scars.

MORE CLARIFICATIONS
Just thought I should mention this, during the past one week, I've been staying up late and waking up early for work. Yet my skin doesn't look that tired and stressed out which used to almost always lead to breakouts 😭. I think this is largely contributed by this whole Centella Line (not just the pads), which I have reviewed! Here are the links:

IT DOESN'T STOP THERE
Oh, did I mention that other than using it as a toner or a cleanser, you can use it to fix makeup (e.g. smudged eyeliner), exfoliate your lips and even for your body (e.g. to exfoliate or to control sebum secretion). I don't remember seeing this with the COSRX baby so this has to be a plus point! Suffice to say, I'm very into this Centella pad from Purito and am definitely recommending it.
