|REVIEW| Corine de Farme Micellar Cleansing Foam (Lush N' Blush)

!!EXCLUSIVE DEAL AT THE END!!

FOAM A TEAM
Once and again, I'm here with another cleanser whose name I haven't heard before until my Lush N' Blush package arrived at my front door. Thank you Ms. Blush for introducing me to my new favourite! This cleanser has made it into my cleansing squad which now has six members, with the AHA Cleansing Research babe retiring soon (thankfully, at least I'm finishing something). July is officially a no-buy month now! You're welcome to lecture me if you catch me buying woo~

Corine de Farme Micellar Cleansing Foam (RM39.90 for 150ML)

ANIMAL TESTED?
If you're a serious drug store queen (or king), I'm sure you must have seen this brand on the rack somewhere in Malaysia. It has products ranging from hair care, baby care to skincare and are 100% made in France without animal testing. I don't always specifically look for non-animal-tested products, but it'd be good if this is one. However when I did a quick research, I found out that it is yet to be Leaping Bunny certified. And, they have a dedicated website for *China as well. So, is it? Or is it not?

*Chinese government mandated animal testing for imported cosmetics and skincare products.

BRAND INTRODUCTION
Started by Paul Duprez in 1969, Corine de Farme grew over the years as a natural cosmetic brand. All its products contain a minimum of 95% natural ingredients and are all dermatological tested. They are also free of paraben, phenoxyethanol (an alternative to parabens), colorant, alcohol and mineral oils which make these products hypoallergenic. This sounds good for every skin type as well as my sensitive combo skin, let's see how good it is, shall we?

INGREDIENT LIST
Looking at the ingredient list (Skincarisma) which I copied from the bottle itself, it sure looks super short and sweet. As promised, there is no paraben or alcohol but it does contain fragrance (parfum). That explains its strong smell which is exactly like my hair shampoo, the one that tends to sting badly whenever I accidentally get it in my eyes.
Aqua, Glycerin, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Parfum, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Potassium Sorbate, Centaurea Cyanus Flower (Cornflower) Extract, Cassia Angustifolia Seed Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxyethycellulose
Note:
Bolded are the star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index'. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous.

ALMOST 100%
Remember I said Corine de Farme's products are all at least made up of 95% of natural ingredients? This one has 97% and it contains purified plants and flowers. One of the notable ingredients is the Cornflower extract, known for its soothing properties on the skin as it can work as an anti-inflammatory, skin conditioning agent and astringent.

TWO LAYERS
Taking a closer look at the cleanser, its liquid always separates into two layers whenever I leave it untouched for a few hours. On top is a clear liquid, which I think is water, with some tiny suspended molecules while settling at the bottom is a milky white liquid. I always shake the bottle lightly to mix up the liquid each time before use. I suggest you to do the same to avoid just pumping up the milky liquid without the water.

PLAYING WITH FOAM

One pump gets me this much of product, which is more than enough for my entire face.

Me: Happily squeezing the foam and moving around
Foam: Let me dirty your paper background, here I come!
Me: NOOOOOO!
Foam: *blob*
That shall explain why the big fat drop of foam disappears in the following picture.

REMEMBER MY BIODERMA REVIEW?
Similar to Bioderma, this cleanser consists of micelles, hence the name. Those are particles which are water-loving on the outside (hence able to dissolve in water) and oil-loving on the inside. This gives them the ability to trap impurities (mainly oil, sebum and dirt) present on the surface of the skin within them. As a result, it can cleanse the skin well and is supposed to have the ability to remove makeup. Therefore as usual, I've put it to a makeup-removal test and double checked with a cotton pad soaked with bioderma. Here we go!

From top to bottom: Tanya Burr Matte Liquid Lipstick, Lilan Vital Brow Pencil, Shiseido Concealer Stick, Maybelline Volume Express Waterproof Mascara, Maybelline Waterproof Gel Pencil Eyeliner.
On the right is also a little of the Laneige BB Cushion.

Here's one pump.

Rubbing as gently as I could. Look at the grit, eww, gross!

After washing off with water, looks like all the makeup has been removed! Let's double check.

Oh wow! There's still quite a bit of leftover!

NOW, NOW
I've used it on my eyes before to try and remove waterproof makeup (don't do this, it stings badly and the instructions specifically advise against this LOL) so my hopes weren't high for this. Yet, it removed the eyeliner and the mascara on my hand reasonably well! I wasn't scrubbing hard at all, just the right amount of pressure I'd use on my face and I did not use any brush to help with the removal.

ALWAYS DOUBLE CLEANSE
However, looking at the remaining makeup that was picked up by the bioderma-soaked cotton pad, it tells me that I shouldn't be using this as a standalone cleanser when I wear makeup. Always pair it with an oil cleanser or a cleansing water like The Saem Tea Garden Tea Tree Cleansing Water to double cleanse and completely remove makeup.

Even on days where I'm not wearing makeup, I have sunscreen on which requires thorough removal to avoid clogging my pores. So on a daily basis, I use this as a second cleanser with my Beurer Facial Brush BC45 after washing with the AHA Cleansing Research Wash Cleansing in the evening. My face is always incredibly fresh and clean after this part of the routine.

WHERE'S MY TONER?!
Usually after using a cleansing foam, my face would be dried out and I'd be desperately reaching for my moisturising toner to quickly restore the moisture of my skin. But with this one, that doesn't have to happen. Instead of feeling the unwelcome tightness on my skin, it feels comfortable and smooth to touch. That spells 'keeper' for me! I've been using this for more than two weeks now and am deeply in love.

FINAL NOTE
Other than the strong smell which I'm still slowly getting used to, this cleanser complements my routine and my Beurer brush. I've been looking to get myself a proper foam cleanser for a while now and I'm glad I got this. I'm a fan of its ultra-light foam and I love putting it on top of the Beurer brush before I use it to clean my skin. And I already told you in the beginning that it's my favourite cleanser now so you can expect me to recommend it! But please make sure you double cleanse if you are planning to get this.

  2. I was thinking that because it's a foaming cleanser, it might dry out your skin, so that's really impressive to hear it doesn't! I don't really double cleanse, but I will think of giving it a go with something like this beforehand xx

  3. It's a miracle when only one-pump does the job - so refreshing, as you know the product will last a while! Also, on a different note, I love the way you wrote this review; so entertaining!

    1. Aww thank you so much Gabrielle! One pump really cleans off everything. But I seem to go through it much faster than I expected. :/ I'm thinking one pump probably takes up a lot of liquid. xx

  4. Seems like a great product! I've never used foam before, but seeing this I might have to rethink this.

  5. Wow, now that is an extremely detailed review! I would be annoyed that it doesn't get the make-up off properly and it has a strong smell, so I don't think this would be for me. Which is why I love your reviews!

    1. I get it! I sometimes am not so much of a fragrance person myself but I'm slowly getting used to this one. Yeah, this would only be suitable for no makeup days hahah so may not be suitable for everyone. Hope you find one that works for you! And thank you so much for visiting! xx

  7. Hi, ive been their user since 2012. I always purchased their moisturizer. At first, I was able to buy it from independent pharmacy, then moved to Lush and Blush store. I am so sad when Lush and blush couldnt afford to re-stock the product this year as im the only customer in Malaysia who happen to buy their moisturizer. And now I am struggling in finding new product for my face. Argh nak raya niiii
