BACK WITH BEAUTY REVIEW
It's been a while since I've done a beauty review and it's back! This time let's go a little crazy because I'm going to review the Althea Trouble Breaker Box which has six full size products in it! YES, SIX! All specially curated by the elves in Althea Korea! This box is meant for acne prone skin as the products are carefully selected to calm irritated skin and remove flaws! So, six products, full size, carefully selected, this thing must have costed a fortune?

NOPE.

The whole box is only RM128! Whaaaat? One of the products itself already costs RM130! Which one? Read on!

WHAT IS BEAUTY BOX?
Remember the Althea review I did last month? Then you must know all their products are shipped directly from Korea and Althea has the Authentic Guarantee which assures you their products are 100% genuine. Due to that beauty addicts like me have fallen in love with them and started asking Althea to also sell beauty boxes (demanding customers, aren't we?) so that we can easily purchase a range products suitable for our needs!

So as a result, Althea launched its very first batch of limited edition themed beauty boxes in 2016. Hurray! The boxes are very highly discounted (we shall find out soon how true this is!), featuring either new or well-known Korea products. I'm getting excited just by typing out all these. Without further ado, it's time for the reviews!

I figured it'd be too long if I review all products in full here, so I've broken them down into separate posts and included the links to the posts under relevant products. The detailed posts include the ingredient list and more information + explanations that are not in this unboxing review. I did this for all products except the massager, tea tree oil and the pimple patch. If you think that one product interests you, just click on the link and you'd be directed! Have fun reading! :D

THE SAEM HEALING TEA GARDEN TEA TREE CLEANSING WATER
The Saem Healing Tea Garden Tea Tree Cleansing Water review
The Saem Healing Tea Garden Tea Tree Cleansing Water (RM21 for 300ML)

Ugly doodle + my fail attempt at trying to create an eye: Waterproof eyeliner, waterproof mascara, BB cream and eye shadow (check out what makeup I used on my hand using the link below)

This cleans reasonably well when I had no makeup on. But when I had, it removed some of my waterproof makeup (as shown above) but it couldn't really remove my base make up. It also felt sticky on the skin after using it. I wouldn't recommend this for those who wear makeup frequently. But you can use this in the morning and at night (in double cleansing step for no-makeup days) by gently press on the skin for 5-10 seconds, blot off and then lightly wash off with water.

ICY WHITE COOL MASSAGER
icy white massager review
Icy White Massager (RM69, multiple-use)

This one is super cool to play with (pun intended). As instructed, I took out the semi-permanent ice cartridge inside and put it in the freezer for over one hour (I actually put it overnight!). If you lightly shake the ice cartridge before freezing it, you can feel there's liquid inside. This liquid will freeze and lower the temperature of the head.

I fumbled around for more information on the liquid but it was unfruitful. Even the package only states its materials to be Aluminium, PETG (short for polyethylene terephthalate, the most common thermoplastic polymer resin) and PE (short for polyethylene, the most common plastic). What about the liquid??? Well, as long as I'm not drinking the liquid and it doesn't flow out, maaaaaybe I can tolerate not knowing (I will still try to find out grr)!

icy white massager review
This dark blue ice cartridge is what you're supposed to put into the freezer.

Fresh out of the frezeer

Try your best not to touch the head or the body of the ice cartridge immediately after taking it out of the fridge. It might be too cold (they put a warning on the packaging in English, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese) and can cause frostbite (seriously, so cold?). I didn't want to risk it so I used the white cover to 'scoop' the ice cartridge out of the freezer.

cold massager for acne review
Kindly ignore my funnily positioned fingers and my growing finger nails. Wait, I just drew your eyes to them didn't I? Oh well.

I didn't use it immediately for fear I'll become iceman (or woman). So I let it warm a little, around 5 minutes later, I started massaging. It was COLD! I didn't let it sit on my face for more than 5 seconds on each spot (cannot tahan). I massaged my jaw, then went on to massage the whole face.

p.s. cannot tahan means 'cannot stand it' in Manglish (Malay + English) #typicalmalaysianyo

Probably my face wasn't too puffy that morning, I didn't see any immediate results in reduction of swelling. But I felt relaxed and AWAKE (you will certainly feel more awake if you put something ultra cold on your face for 1 second, imagine having it on for 5 minutes). If you want to try something cool or you just had a cosmetic surgery and need a pain reliever, I would recommend this one! Since that is what it claims it can do. It also claims to help relieve fever woo.

SWANICOCO A.C CONTROL CARE SKINTONER
swanicoco ac control care skintoner review
Swanicoco A.C Control Care Skintoner (RM130 for 120ML)

Very runny texture, I almost couldn't get this shot!

althea korea beauty box review
After patting it in, I couldn't see any trace of its application, so it's good for layering!

Seriously, I'm so in love with the smell of this toner. It smells slightly herbal-ly, yet very comforting and relaxing. Although it contains tea tree, I couldn't really detect any tea tree scent, which is good! The use of this toner has been giving me really soft and smooth skin and that's why I'm highly recommending this one!

AROMATICA TEA TREE 53 BLEMISH SPOT
tea tree 53 blemish spot review
Aromatica Tea Tree 53 Blemish Spot (RM46 for 10ML)

tea tree 53 blemish spot review
This contains of 20% tea tree leaf oil and 33.35% tea tree leaf extract, hence the 53 in its name.

I've had bad experience with something that smells this strongly of tea tree. It burnt my skin and left me struggling even more badly with the acne that was already bad. Since then I vowed not to own any more tea tree concentrate. But I obviously jumped the gun. Because here I am, with a tea tree concentrate that worries me with the speed it dries down on my skin.

Before I patch tested the tea tree oil

One big drop and the back of my hand was burning. YES BURNING.

acne beauty box althea
The burning got worse while I spread it but I thought, it's my hand, so it's okay. BUT am I putting this onto my face?? Will it burn worse if I put it on a pimple, an open wound?

p.s. my hand is okay, if you're wondering

Turns out, no. It didn't burn worse, in fact, it didn't burn at all. Even though it was a pimple painful upon touching, it didn't burn. That is great! I applied by putting a small drop on my finger, dab it on a painful spot like how dragonfly touches water and went to sleep. Note: the instruction says to add 2-3 drops on the cotton bud given to apply to ONLY the affected areas. But I thought tahe cotton bud was absorbing all the tea tree oil instead of transferring it so I used my finger.

A typical head for such product

The next morning, I woke up and the first thing I did was check the pimple. Nothing has changed. Still painful, still huge, still there. It also doesn't work on welts as well as my COSRX Centella Blemish Cream, which can magically shrink them down overnight. I tried it out for another two days, twice a day (recommended use is 2-4 times a day), still no improvement at all. Not so much of an SOS First Aid for acne eh?

trouble breaker box malaysia review
The back of the package

Let's look at the whole ingredients list:

Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) leaf extract, Alcohol (hence the super quick drying property!), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) leaf oilPolysorbate80, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (low irritating salicylic acid), Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract
Well, I honestly don't hate this one like the one I used to have since it did not do harm to my skin. But I'm not sure I like it. It hasn't done anything to surprise or wow me. So, I won't recommend this, anyway, you know I don't believe in acne-killing products, don't you?

INNISFREE BIJA TROUBLE LOTION

innisfree bija trouble lotion review
Innisfree Bija Trouble Lotion (RM60 for 100ML)

White lotion in package all printed with soy ink, very environmental friendly!

Before putting on anything

Before spreading out the lotion

Looks matte and it doesn't feel sticky!

I am in love with this lotion and it has joined the night routine family. YES, it made it into my list of "products I must use at night" because it kept my skin clear for days! I never thought a lotion would do such good to my combination skin! Looks like Innisfree isn't boasting when they claim the torreya seed extract in this lotion can help control blemishes and keep skin clear. I highly recommend this one and am planning to repurchase once I run out!

MISSHA SPEEDY SOLUTION ANTI TROUBLE PATCH
missha speedy solution anti trouble patch review
Missha Speedy Solution Anti Trouble Patch (USD5.50)

This was the thing I ripped apart when I opened up the Trouble Breaker Box. I've almost finished up my Nexcare Pimple Patch so this one came in just in time.

missha pimple patch reviewThere are 6 smaller patches and 6 larger patches in one pack

WARNING: Gross pictures coming in!

Got a whitehead I'm desperate to get rid of

missha malaysia review
The used piece. I wonder if you can see the sebum.

The crease of my nose is the oiliest area of my whole face. The Missha pimple pad has sucked up all the oil and the whitehead. You can't see the whitehead on the pad. So why I'd say it removed my whitehead? Because when I washed my face straight after, the whitehead was easily washed off, which means this pimple patch managed to suck it all out! It simply wasn't adhering too well to the pimple pad and was stuck to my nose crease while I pulled down the pimple pad.

I must praise the Missha patch! It is stickier and so much thinner than the Nexcare pimple patch which makes it almost invisible on my skin. To show how thin it is, here is a picture of me wearing it on my cheek.

best pimple patch to choose
Can you find where it is?

It's stickiness is perfect for use at night because it doesn't fall off even if you move around. Unlike Nexcare, this one didn't lose its adhesiveness even after I repositioned it a few times to get it right on top of my whitehead. However, throwing it away could become an issue because it just didn't want to leave my finger. Next time, just fold up the sticky sides (so you'll be holding the non-adhesive side) before you throw it away. That should make things easier for you!

CONCLUSION
I really love it when Althea releases a value box like this one that I'm dying to get for my skin. Since started using this box, my skin has recovered much faster than usual (mostly the effort of the Swanicoco toner and the Innisfree bija lotion) and I'm super glad! I even found one item that I'm going to keep repurchasing when I run out.

However, the box is currently sold out on Althea that's why I'm not including a link to the box. But you can always keep track for other upcoming beauty boxes on Althea using this link: http://althea.kr and grab them before they run out!

It was good! I’m currently in the advanced stage. Are you doing ICAEW too?
