BELIF IN CHRISTMAS!
Christmas is just another two weeks away! OMG! But first and foremost, a big thank you to Tammy from The Butterfly Project Malaysia and Belif for this beautiful box of early Christmas! Inside the box, there are four different Belif products and I plan to review them all one by one BEFORE the big day hits. That way I can review them in detail and give a fair review to each one, AND, you can decide if you want to get them for yourself, your friends or your loved ones as this year's Christmas gift! That's the perfect win-win situation!

Note: Bolded are the star ingredients in the product whereas underlined are those flagged as 3 & above under 'Safety index'. Safety index ranges from 1-9 and the lower the number means the less hazardous. Those with asterisks are more likely to cause acne than those without.

THE LIST IS SO LONG!
There are so many ingredients I was shocked when I saw the list on the packaging. I think the number of ingredients in this Aqua Gel Oil is almost comparable to the Guerisson 9 Complex Cream Light which I reviewed previously (that one I had to key in the ingredients ONE BY ONE man!)! Like the Belif Cleansing Oil Fresh, it is free from mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives and any animal origin ingredient.

The ingredient list is on the side of the box.

THE GOOD ONES
Let's look at the bolded ingredients one by one. As I've mentioned many times in my previous reviews, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol and Sodium Hyaluronate are all powerful moisturiser. Hence this could potentially be a life saver for those of you with extremely dry skin! According to Belif's website, Passiflora Incarnata Seed Oil is full of moisture and oil. This allows the Aqua Gel Oil to give us a soft and moist skin without greasiness when applied. I can already testify to this one here HAHA!

THE BAD ONES
The main reason the last few ingredients are all underlined is because all of them are in there as fragrance. However for Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol and Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, they are potentially comedogenic hence can possibly cause acne by clogging our pores. We'll soon see if this is the case!

WHAT IS A GEL OIL?
Honestly, I didn't know there's something called a gel oil until I see this. I was so intrigued when I first saw the package and I was very eager to test this out. At first I was worried that it might be too oily for my skin, which I now feel has moved a little towards to oilier side as I age, but boy was I wrong. It just looks and feels like a gel, a thin consistency gel, which is neither oily nor sticky. Even though I think it's not oily to the touch, I still don't use this all over my face. I only apply it on the drier part of my skin.

Here's a pump of the Belif Aqua Gel Oil on my hand. That's too much for the drier part of my skin, so I normally only use half a pump.

MOISTURISE OR AGE!
I always and only apply this before I go to bed. That's because I'm exposing my skin to eight or nine hours of constant flow of wind. I know it is going to dry out if I don't properly moisturise it before I sleep and that can cause me to age faster. I don't want that! Hence, no matter how lazy or tired I am after a long day, I will at least double cleanse, followed by applying a good moisturiser. This Aqua Gel Oil is a very concentrated and refreshing gel. According to Belif's website, it actually turns into a light moisture oil after being applied to the skin.

Wiping it on my hand, it doesn't look or feel oily.

IT'S NOT OILY AT ALL
However, it doesn't feel oily on my skin at all and absorbs surprisingly quickly. It also doesn't suffocate my pores while delivering moisture to my skin and this is important to me because I really hate sleeping with my skin being sticky and unable to breathe! If you're wondering how to fit this into your routine, for me, I normally use it right after my toner and before I put on the Belif Oil Control Moisturizer Fresh (for the oilier part of my skin) followed by a marine gel to seal everything in. So, yes, moisturising my skin is a very important job it has to be done thrice HAHA!

It gives a watery texture after application. My skin looks way more moisturised instantly.

WHEN YOU CAN USE IT
Although the instructions on the box says 2~3 pumps, I personally find it being a little too much as I'm only using it for the drier part of my skin. So what I'm saying is you should adjust the amount accordingly to fit your skin's need. Avoid putting on too thick a layer since too much of a good thing can sometimes become a bad thing! Other than using it at night like me, you can use it in the morning as the last skincare step in your routine too to help create a natural makeup look!

SKEPTICAL AT FIRST, A BELIF-ER NOW
I was scared to try this in the beginning because I judged the book by its cover HAHA. Seeing the word "Oil" kind of pushed me back a little but I don't regret getting to know this little baby which has now become one of my favourite moisturisers! I've been using this for two weeks now and my skin looks way more radiant than it was before. There is no breakout and no irritation at all although my skin normally reacts terribly to anything that has alcohol in it. But, as always, do a patch test before you go and put it all over your face!

It comes with a pump so it's super hygienic!

STOP HESITATING AND GET IT ALREADY
I'm going to keep this in my night routine and use it on the drier parts of my skin to keep them well moisturised. If you have the budget, I'd strongly recommend you to give it a try! Oh and, if I smell closely, this one smells a little like the herbal cream I apply on my sore muscles. But the smell is super faint. You may want to test it in a store before deciding whether it's for you.
