|EVENT STORY| Shop Beauty Products From Japan With Luxella.com!

COME TO ME!
After I came back from Japan, the only thing I regret not doing is bringing back as many beauty products as possible because I just realised a lot of them are not available at all in Malaysia! But what can I do? I won't be going back to Japan any time soon unless I learn how to grow money on trees. Luckily I found out about Luxella.com, an e-commerce beauty store with a focus on Japanese skincare and cosmetics (they ship to US, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and Norway)!

NOW I KNOW
Do you know why many Japanese products are not accessible outside of Japan? The reason is because Japanese businesses are extremely particular about maintaining a high quality control standard as well as who they choose to work with. It takes a long time to earn their trust and ensure that a high quality standard is maintained throughout the sale of their products. It also explains why Japanese products are often more highly priced compared to products made in other countries!

AT THE LAUNCH PARTY
So, around two weeks ago, I joined Kaylee, the founder of Luxella.com and the other guests to celebrate Luxella.com's private official launch. Held at QuadArt, an art gallery with a rustic Oriental setting, we were introduced to Luxella.com's Japanese Beauty Philosophy, which highlights the difference in quality of Japan-made products. At the party, we had the opportunity to personally sample some products available on their website. But what turned my eyes into two light bulbs that day was the free manicure session using Ueba Esou Gofun Nail Polish (also available on their website)!

I want my nails painted too!

A video we watched on the spot about Ueba Esou's philosophy history.

WAIT, UEBA ESOU?
Ueba Esou is the oldest paint company in Japan and it originated from Kyoto. They use traditional ingredients and modern methods to make Gofun Nail Polish - a water based, natural nail polish that is free from odours and is water permeable, while ‘Gofun’ is an opaque white pigment made from crushed scallop shells. I can attest to the odour-free part because my nose wasn't bombarded with the typical nail polish smell when I visited the Manicure Station located in a small room! If you're sensitive to the nail polish smell but have been wanted to get your nails painted, you can grab them at RM70 from here.

BACK TO THE EVENT
The event started with an introduction of the main companies that Luxella.com has forged a partnership with. Some of them are Ueba Esou (which I just introduced to you), HerbEAU (up next) and Ecott Cosme Organic. These brands, which are exclusive to the website, were specially curated by Luxella.com due to their natural, high quality organic ingredients and high manufacturing standards. Sharp at 3pm, the time the event was scheduled to start, a panel session with Kaylee and a brand partner, Mika Tsuneyoshi from HerbEAU began. I love how they also practised Japanese's concept of punctuality!

Kaylee also gave an insight to her business and the Japanese beauty market.

LET'S TALK ABOUT HERBEAU
HerbEAU is a high quality organic skincare brand with cutting-edge technology that hails from Nagasaki, Japan. Its star product is the All-in-one Gel which uses a world first patented ingredient made from organic BIWA (Loquat). As a product that is meant to replace toner, moisturiser and serum, it is made from Biwa fruit in Nagasaki and has many healing properties. It was formulated by dermatologist and pharmacists from SSC (Shinohara Skincare Clinic) and French Biologist Dr Bejit Ideas, who has a PHD in BioChemistry and was the Chemistry Nobel Prize 2003 nominee!

WHAT ABOUT ECOTT COSME ORGANIC?
Ecott Cosme Organic has a wide range of products created with raw ingredients sourced from 47 prefectures of Japan. What! That's a lot of places! If you're a Japanese food lover like me, you'd be surprised to hear that their products include wasabi as an ingredient harvested from the Miyage prefecture. I'm very curious to know how the product will feel on my skin! Not just that, they even have rose petals from Shimane for those of you rose lovers! 🌹 Are you now wondering what products they actually carry?

luxella review
Ecott Cosme Loquat 2-in-1 Cleanser, a cleansing & foam product.

LOVING THE PINK PACKAGING
Among all, the cleansing & foam products (picture above) are the most unique. It can gently cleanse and remove makeup in one step, which is perfect for saving time (great news for lazy souls like mine!). When used dry, it can remove makeup - mascara, foundation, eyeliner and so on. It can be even safely used on lash extensions! If you use it with water, it can be lathered up into a foam wash which you can use this to remove makeup and cleanse. Now all you need is just one product for your double cleansing routine and that makes it one less bottle to pack when travelling! 😍

Where to get Ecott Cosme Organic (I only list out some,  check out all available products here):

Wasabi Body Scrub - RM130
Loquat 2-in-1 Cleanser - RM120 (Sale!)
Mild Rose Essence - RM180

SO DIFFERENT FROM KOREAN SKINCARE
As someone who buys into the Korean 10-step skincare routine so much, I got intrigued by the Japanese Skincare philosophy. They prefer simple, natural and organic ingredients and take a minimalistic approach to skincare, which is the total opposite of Korean skincare. If you're on social medias, you may have realised that Korean Skincare brands are releasing a lot of trendy product lines at a fast pace (almost every season) whereas we seldom hear from the Japanese brands. That's because the Japanese believe that less is more when it comes to skincare. They prefer fewer steps when it comes to skincare routine, using products with simple but powerful ingredients.

luxella review
They had a lucky draw and this is the grand prize winner!

DON'T WORRY
So far the three brands I just introduced to you are more towards the higher end. However, if those are not within your budget, fret not. Because other than those, Luxella.com also carries other more affordably priced Japanese drugstore brands (pictures below) which have the newest and best in Japan's cosmetic innovation. I really wish I was one of those lucky guests during the lucky draw at the end! Those of them who won had the chance to test out some of the exclusive products and one of them even received a huge flower bouquet (picture above)!

The Ghassoul Mud Wash from Botanigrace.

As well as Chulala! This is a trial kit from them. I especially love the scent, which is refreshing to the mind yet not overwhelming!

We were treated to some desserts at the event. If you follow my Instagram, you may have seen one of these beautiful cupcakes already!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Luxella.com's mission is to make high quality made-in-Japan products accessible to the world but they don't just curate any product. For every product that they bring in, they vet the ingredients lists and provide organic certified, natural options from some of the best factories in the world Japan. Luxella.com always makes sure the organic products they curate are certified with the Ecocert icons, so that you will be safe in their hands if you're a organic product lover!

  13. I agree, even here in Manila it is hard to find authentic Japanese products although they are so good. So now the customers switch attentions to Kirean products, and almost forget about Japanese products. Does Luxella will ship outside Malaysia?

    1. Yes they do! I've had the countries listed down in the first paragraph. They're not shipping to Philippine at the moment though. :(
