AN ATTEMPT AT SKIN-SAVING

If you read my review on The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% or Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, you will notice that my skin looks really awful in the 4-5 months leading up to now. Not to lie, it was a really depressing period for me. I just could not look at myself in the mirror and I would do anything to get my smooth skin back. That's when I decided I should invest in a FOREO Luna 2. Yes, I call it an investment, because I feel it is my skin that I am taking care of, a long term asset that I will forever own (haha that is the accountant in me talking).

Do you remember my earlier review on The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution? Remember how scary my skin was before I started using it? That wasn't the only product that I was using to speed up my acne recovery. Although The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution helped me reduce the breakout, I still need something to tone down the acne marks. Here comes the The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Something I can no longer live without haha.

IT'S COMING

In another 3 weeks, I will be sitting for my very last ICAEW paper (read this post if you don't know what ICAEW is haha). This is very exciting yet scary at the same time. This last paper is very different from all the past papers that I have done because it doesn't have a scope. You go in and you just do the paper based on your existing knowledge. Whether you pass or not depends all on your time management skill and luck (yes I seriously believe in that).

Reading the title probably got you like...whuttt? What is this lady trying to convey? LOL. This serum is a moisturising supergirl. It has the capability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Why so? That's because it is made up of pure hyaluronic acid powder. Isn't that AMAZING? Hyaluronic acid has long been an ingredient frequently used in skincare due to its hydrating abilities. Because of that, it is also my favourite skincare ingredient. 💙

I just came back from Korea in September and it was my first trip abroad with my boyfriend. We explored Myeongdong and paid a visit to the infamous Nara Island. It was an eye-opening experience for both of us. The masks there are super cheap. Innisfree masks there are like RM2 each and Dr. Jart+ masks sold in All Mask Story are like RM36 per pack (each pack has 5 pieces)? Innisfree was having some sort of buy 10 free 10 promotion so we bought 120 of the masks haha!

REALLY LONG
Isn't that a really long name for a mask? Recently been trying to read more and I stumbled upon a book by Trevor Noah, "Born A Crime". Well, actually it was introduced to me by my boyfriend haha. It was so interesting read that I finished it in 2 days. It was more like an autobiography and man, that was a book that really opened my eyes, after Eat Pray Love. I am going to write a review on the book soon, something I haven't done in so long!

STRESS-RELATED ACNES

I recently realised that my acne issue is seasonal and is 100% due to the stress caused by my work schedule. I had been having really bad acnes during the first half of the year, which subside and totally recover in the second half of the year. When it nears the end of the year, the entire cycle repeats itself and it collides perfectly with the stress level at work! TT But I don't really feel stressed physically! Is that how my body is telling me I should start paying more attention to the stress?

My way of tackling stress at the moment: MASKING. And blogging. LOL.

CAN'T WAIT TO SHEET MASK

My eyes had been swollen for the past few days it has been difficult for me to take pictures and test out sheet mask. 😭 What's worse is I couldn't even put on concealer when I headed out so it looked really funny with me having concealer on only one of my eyes. So I waited a week plus for it to calm down before I start using any sheet mask again. I really don't know what caused the infection but one thing I learnt is that please don't rub your eyes if it feels itchy. Just hold back the urge!

SKIN, DO ME A FAVOUR
There are days where my skin just cannot be nice to me. It acts up and becomes itchy and red. So often I don't know what to do other than just put on my regular skincare products and go to bed, wishing that all the redness would go away before the morning comes. Yet, wishes don't always come true. Sleeping in air-conditioned room doesn't help either. So I searched up and down for a solution and I stumbled upon the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream.

I love seeing a simple ingredient list and it's been long since I've seen one. This is why I love The Ordinary so much. It has the most minimalistic and truest description on its products ever. No boasting, no claims, just truth. Its products' names are exactly what the products are and precisely what they can do. The ingredient list does not fall short of expectations either. I guess there is a reason why it is so famous! So here's my take on its blemish killer: Salicylic Acid 2% Solution.

IT IS SO HARD

My skin is incredibly picky it is very difficult for me to find a cleanser that works and at the same time does not dry out my skin. I know for sure that cleansing foams and cleansing gels do not work because they are too drying. I hate the tight feeling that follows every time after using those types of cleansers. So I went into Sephora after reading tonnes of reviews on Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, wanting to grab a tube and try it out.

SUPER DRY

My lips are unreasonably dry, no matter how much water I consume. I have trouble keeping even the most moisturising lipstick on without getting cracked lips 1-2 hours after application. This is very troubling especially when I am out on dates and it lowers my confidence. I feel less attractive and am constantly trying to moisture my lips with my saliva, which only aggravates the issue. So I am on a mission to look for the best lip moisturiser, join me?

DON'T SAY IT TOO QUICKLY

Remember those times where you tell yourself you will never use a certain product again? I once told myself I will not touch any tinted products because they feel like makeup and they make my skin uncomfortable. Guess what? I am here now, getting all hyped up by my second tube of Swissvita's Energy Enhancer Cream and having the third tube ready to take over the world in my stash. I keep telling myself I don't need another cleansing water. I already have two bottles sitting untouched on my shelves and one currently in use. I don't need another one, I don't. And one moment later, I am sitting in my living room, anticipating the arrival of the Son & Park Beauty Water. Self-restraint is hardly a term I live by when it comes to beauty products. BEST MONTH EVER

This is by far the best month ever since I started work. I took two months off for my last ICAEW paper (read my ICAEW journey here and here) and I honestly don't think I need that much time-off. Even our lecturer urged us to go back to work since there is not much to study until the Advanced Information (the first part of the exam paper for Case Study) comes out. But I had taken the leave anyway, why not just indulge myself again in doing something I love? (Like being here 😚)

BACK WITH A NEW PURPOSE

Almost a year of inactivity, wow, I'm lazy haha. Anyway, I am planning to adjust my focus and purpose a little. Instead of reviewing products that I've only used for a short period of time (which honestly isn't enough to really tell if it is good unless it's a one-time use product, e.g. sheet mask, pimple patch, you get the point), I want to try to extend the testing period. So the target I set for myself now, is to at least use up half of the product before I do any review. 👌😀?
