How I Planned My Trip to Taiwan 2

Speaking of Taiwan, I've never wanted to visit there at least not until a year ago. After a failed plan to travel to Turkey, my family and I had decided to make our way to Taiwan, the country I never thought I'd like.

The first impression I had of the much hated place (for no reason and this should be in past tense) was the politeness portrayed by the Taiwanese we met. One incident is when we decided not to hire a Taiwanese driver we found to travel around the island, he still politely thanked us and let us know in the best way he could that it is okay and that he doesn't mind, which I'm quite sure he should and would because we are going there for 10 days, that's a big amount of incoming cash!

But how?

So we eventually decided to travel on foot and take public transport when it's too far. I was visiting the Taiwan with my parents and my brother so, because dad's legs aren't as fit as in the good ol' days, a lot of times we ended up taking cabs. Extra spending but less legwork, I supposed that's good news for me bad news for dad's wallet. ;D

Most days we didn't take any real meals. We visited the night market and bought local delicacies for the four of us to share. Otherwise we would eat from the hawker stall we found at the tourist attractions. Not only we saved a lot of money on food we had also managed to taste almost all the most famous dishes in Taiwan without stretching our stomachs too much. Whenever someone asks me how my trip to Taiwan was, my response is: we never stopped eating. We've walked the many night markets in different part of the country and the most important and common thing we did was looking for a queue and queue for the food. You may ask, why look for a queue? Well, we followed the rules 'queue when there's a queue' to help make sure we get our hands on the most famous food in the area. And man, wasn't we disappointed! I was also very lucky that some of my friends studying in Taiwan were free to meet me and bring me around for food in the area they best know. I'm so blessed I believe I had gained a few kilograms throughout the whole trip!

I'm not going to delve into the details of our trip for now. But I will, covering the particulars of how we travelled from Taipei to Kaohsiung by ourselves in 10 days, spending less than RM3500 per person including air tickets (four planes including transit), hotel accommodation (of those with a rating of higher than 7.5 in Agoda for 10 days), food (a lot of food), transport and shopping (shoes, clothes and many more food).
